We had drinks here and the rooms are all setup to be cozy, you can have a conversation with your group without having others shoulder to shoulder. The vibe is great, even as it gets crowded, only the bar is full of people, the rest is laid out well. The bartenders were very good, fast, and friendly.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday with forty friends all dressed in 20’s style clothes. The manager Saul, and his staff were amazing making this a special night. The craft cocktails were delicious and the jazz band was hopping.

So many of our friends were impressed and will be returning with their families.

I have been there several times. When they have any music or event I cant get a drink. The last time, after being in line at the bar 20 minutes, they only had one bar section open, and only had 2 bartenders for a very large crowd, we left.
I love the atmosphere, but there are too many nice cocktail bars in Raleigh to have to wait 20+ minutes to order a drink.

What a fascinating bar! Tucked away underground like the speakeasies it’s modeled upon, Watts & Ward is one of my favorite bars downtown. It’s got several rooms inside for people to spread out in, with several bars to order from, as well as a large patio area in the back, complete with picnic tables, lit torches, and yet another bar outside. The decor is all vintage or antique, giving it a thoroughly unique aesthetic and vibe.
They’ve got a nice variety of drinks available, including a good number of fancy cocktails (seriously; one comes with an edible flower, that’s how fancy we’re talking). Drinks can get a bit expensive, so it’s definitely a bar to go to if you’re looking for some place to chat with friends rather than get wasted. The staff is knowledgeable, skilled with their drinks, and attentive without being annoying.
Overall, one of my favorite bars I’ve ever visited I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something a little fancier than usual or if you want to impress someone.

Love the speakeasy feel. Room after room, comfy sofas, wing back leather chairs, exposed brick walls. Relaxing! We did not eat that visit, we enjoyed cocktails, enjoyed the music and lively yet chilled atmosphere. Worth many return visits.
