I use to come here a lot, but there was always something a little off about it. They always seemed out of something -- sticky rice, limes, etc. The service was lacking as well.

Thaiphoon consistently has some of the best Thai food in the Triangle. Everything is always fresh, reasonably priced, and typically served quickly.

I've dined at Thaiphoon numerous times over the last few years, and the only poor service I received was when I dined with a group of over 10 people. Unfortunately, their kitchen must not be set up to serve such a large group at once especially on a weekend evening. However, the staff did their best to make up for the slow service on that one occasion. I will definitely dine at Thaiphoon again, but just not when I'm with a large group.

Some of my favorite dishes - Pad Kra Prow, Pad Ma Mung, Honolulu Stripper, and the Thai Spring Rolls.

I wish I could give it a better review as there are many positives about this restaurant. The people are very pleasant and very accommodating. The place is different...the décor is pleasant, but it also seems to be partly decorated for Christmas. We weren't sure what to make of it. It's clean and the atmosphere is quite relaxing. Now for the negative. There were four of us, two of my sons, a girlfriend, and me. One of my sons lives in CA and eats at many Thai restaurants (his favorite food). The food was good, but that was it. My son from CA ordered the Pad Khi Mao with chicken. He said the taste was "alright" but it wasn't spicy at all, as he expected it to be. My other son's girlfriend ordered hers "spicy". She said it was good, but not at all spicy. Mine was also good, but not spicy. Neither was my other son's. The food is all tasty and fresh, but if you want really spicy Thai, that is not the place for it. I hate to be negative about this place and it's not that I would never return. I would if anyone wanted to go. But it's just not the place for people who truly want really good Thai unless, they possibly stress that they want it very spicy. Like the title, it's a paradox. I really enjoyed mine. We all did to a point. Just don't expect to get it spicy unless you STRESS that you want it that way.

First, let's get the issue of service out of the way. It was prompt enough, both taking the order and receiving the food, but apparently they have no concept of customer service or don't care. No hello at all, although she did check to see if everything was OK. Maybe speaking to her in Thai helped!

That said, my food was good and the lunch price was right. A side salad sat on the plate with the entree. My tofu was over-fried, but I enjoyed my food. Decor is smart-modern rather than traditional. I'd go back.

Arrived @ 5:30p, on a Tuesday. Our group of six were the only customers there. We had to wave to the one waitress when we were ready to order. First time attempting Thai food, I ordered the salmon salad (to be safe) which was really tasty and the Thai tea (creamy). The salad had a hidden hot spice, which caused me to choke/cough, wasn't expecting that. This experience was not bad. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
