Description: The Hibernian…an authentic taste of Irish culture. The Hibernian Irish Pub & Restaurants savor the old world and the new taste of Ireland. Hibernian is a word that is derived from the Latin term Hibernia which translates to 'one who comes from Ireland’, and that is exactly what you can expect from this pub. Carrying on with Irish tradition, we offer an atmosphere that infuses the alluring and relaxing nature of a traditional Irish social club and the warmth of a Gaelic home kitchen. The Hibernian Restaurant and Pubs offer a unique atmosphere that caters to people from all walks of life, from the family of four to the sports fan that is looking for a place to have a drink and watch the game, and even the professional who comes in to have a quick lunch in the middle of the day. Whether you’re stopping in for happy hour or to relax and enjoy the home cooked taste of Ireland, the pubs are a meeting place to talk, to debate, to sing, to laugh, to drink and to eat delicious food.

Went for Brunch and was seated at 12:05. Our food didn’t arrive till 1:18. Had a new waitress as she mentioned she just started a week ago and had to ask other waitress for drinks and it would of been nice to check on use instead of us asking what’s going on. Just told backed up, questioned why tables that came in after us getting there meals before us?

Not a pleasant experience and manager should of came to tables to apologize for being backed up, but also never happened.

PROS:
1. We were going to sit in a booth in the library area, but then opted to sit in the sun on the open 2nd floor deck -- so glad we did . . . nice nooks under the stair wells too on the 1st floor

2. Irish style 'chips' were amongst the best chunky ('steak') fries we've ever had -- even better than those in Ireland itself . . . crisp and well seasoned on the outside and very pillowy on the inside -- not the dense kind that are, frankly, too dry and a chore to chew and swallow

3. Burgers were great -- huge double patty

4. Fish (cod) was great

5. Tanisha was a warm & joyful server . . . very attentive to refills . . . no defensiveness when we had to send a dish back

6. Just about everything (e.g., menus, tables, chairs, floors) seemed spic & span even though it was the day after St Paddy's Day -- kudos to the staff for cleaning up well after the big day

7. Nice thick napkins

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENTS:

• Irish Stew was a thin watery clear broth with lots of big chunks of celery . . . we lived in Ireland for 4 years where we ate more than our fair share of stew both in homes and restaurants and we never encountered stew like this.

• Mac & Cheese, while featured on the menu, can be left alone . . . unless you like your mac al dente and the sauce creamy but sparse, and with a kick of white pepper . . . with no cheesy gooey goodness.

• Cole Slaw serving was meagre but that's ok because it was nothing special.

• One order of the Pub Burger came with a pickle, but another one lacked the pickle.

• Men's room door handle needs to be replaced . . . there's a hole in the door!

• Utensils were not entirely clean!

• Had to ask for ketchup.

• No cup of ice water served with alcohol order.

• Pen for credit slip did not work easily . . . maybe this doesn't bother most guests, but as a former server and manager and as a guest, I know there's no easier way to leave a guest with a bit of a sour taste in their mouth than to let them feel that you don't care what you give them to pay & tip you with . . . management should provide branded click pens that write easily -- and servers should ensure that they are clean

We had some time between basketball games so we thought we would try a new place. Typical bar atmosphere, loud music, many patrons, some maneuvered the areas as though they had been there before. I had the "Irish Stew" and it was very good. I would like to know what type of bread came with it, as it was very good as well. My husband had chicken fingers and fries. The fries were thick cut and there were plenty to share. The honey mustard sauce has a bite to it. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The others shared a plate of fried calamari served with lettuce and fresh jalapenos. Too spicy for me. I would like to try this place again.

Stopped by for a dinner one night when we were in the mood for some Irish food. Started off with some fried stuffed mushrooms that were delicious. The sheppards pie was piping hot and very good. Ended with a custard for dinner. One appetizer, two entrees, one desert and three pints for $70 plus tip. The decor was like you were in Dublin.

My son who lives in Raleigh took us to the Hibernian for lunch. We sat on the third floor which had a great view of the city however it was too cold to sit outside which would’ve been nice. Great fish and chips awesome Rubens had the buffalo mac & cheese which was fantastic. Can’t beat the beer selection and whiskey menu. I’m a big fan of Irish pubs and check them out where ever we go this one is on the top of my list.
lunch we will return
