Visiting Raleigh for the weekend and wanted a nice dinner. After reading several positive reviews we chose Poole's Diner. This place is quirky (old diner) with dim lighting that provided AMAZING FOOD. I had the Chicken and the Wife had Halibut both cooked perfectly !!! Food was fresh and service was great !

Went here a couple of times during a recent stay in Raleigh. The menu is not very extensive and there were only a couple of choices for vegetarians but what we did have was absolutely delicious!! Definitely try the tomatoes and the macaroni cheese is out of this world - everyone at the table agreed! Good selection of wines and cocktails too.

Seven went for brunch, the menu was an experience in "what's that". One person had a pancake that tasted like a falafel you would get at the carnival, 3 got a breakfast plate with beans ( which didn't get eaten) the rest got eggs Benedict. One person got a memosa which was literally 2 1/2" of fluid in a large wine glass. Bill over $150. All but one said they would have been happier a McDonald's. The diner was very noisy. Would never go back.

One of the highlights of the 12 day road trip eating adventure. And it takes top prize of the best taste for real food(not desert a donut place won that). We met our niece and her husband at Poole’s Diner and it was so much fun. We had an Heirloom Tomato salad with gorgonzola cheese, a light dressing served with a side of cornbread, Mac N Cheese Gratin, Fried Green Tomatoes with crabmeat, a savory corn soup, shrimp and grits, a chicken dish with potatoes. Everything was wonderful. None of the four of us like gorgonzola cheese and we all loved the salad. The mac n cheese was the best we have every had and it was huge. But the winner was the Savory Whipped (pureed) corn soup that had little halves of pear tomatoes and was drizzled with a basil oil. Missy, who helped our group warned me that I might not like it as it was different, a bit savory. Well, it was different, nothing like I have ever had and I feel in love with it. Service is perfect in this little place. The food is perfect. Get there before the doors open at 5:00PM and take a seat at the bar. And wait until they start seating at 5:30. This is a true experience.

Interesting menu. Is it only me or did it seem over priced? Good service from the staff. Wierd portion sizes.
