Nice large lobby typical of an above average hotel. Our room was in the “apartment building”. It is a separate building on the side of the main hotel, which was accessed by going down a nice long hallway to a side door and exiting the main building to a separate building. It was a good size room. It had a desk and chair plus 2 additional chairs and small table. The carpet had noticeable stains. No safe. A very small thermoelectric fridge which does not cool much. Very stiff bed, which seemed usual for the area.
Smoking ashtrays in room and restaurant although our room did not smell of smoke.
Breakfast buffet was only eastern style items although eggs or omelet were available.
Park with ponds near front entrance.
Non-english speaking hotel. Stayed 2 nights.

This is one hotel we would all like to stay whenever we are in Changsha. Rooms are renovated and classy in the modern western style. Good food are aplenty within and outside the hotel but the most impressive is the beautiful park which is part of the hotel. For the price and ambiance, I would vote Vaya International as one of the few best local hotel

Room Tip: The newly renovated room are quieter and if traffic noise is a problem, ask to be locate away from the main road.

Here is why this is probably the best place to stay in Changsha.

First, they built this great little park on the hill right across from the hotel, a small suspension bridge leads you through a winding mini nature walk. They also have a very nice gym and swimming pool witch was a real plus...don't even think about working out outside.

The room gets a big plus because the AC actually made the room cold..20c. If you've traveled in China in summer you know this is a big plus to rooms usually set at 25c or higher.

My room was neat and clean, bed as usual is hard as a rock. Bathroom was good but had a great shower.

The breakfast was average for China, had dinner at the buffet downstairs, food was good not great, but the prices were very reasonable.

Hotel is also closer to the Airport then being downtown.
If your in town for one night it works well enough.

My overall rating is high based on the value, location and having very good workout facility

There must be a very good reason for you to plan a trip to Changsha. I mean, Changsha is not so bad, and in Changsha nothing is really different from the other 20 and more megacities of Southern China. But if you are going there please, at least, try to book a good hotel to mitigate the impact on your health of an environment with a persistent an dense haze of smog and humidity, 40 degrees Celsius, and millions of crazy drivers stucked in never ending queues.
Vaya hotel could be a good spot for you since it is conveniently located near the city center (train station) and not so far from the airport and the new eastern area of the City. The nearest metro station is just at 10 minutes from Vaya by taxi while a taxi ride to Orange Island could take up to 40 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Rooms are OK, they probably need some improvement (especially the windows that are not insulated) but, frankly speaking, nothing real dramatic there. The only issue, especially if you are staying in the side facing the main street, is the continuous and persistent noise coming from the thousands of vehicles, motorbikes, trucks, coaches, taxis, bikes crossing the street at every time of the day and the night.
But the big asset (and difference) of this hotel is only one: the park. A quite extended green area just in front of the main entrance where you can find yourself wandering over the (fake) great wall or relaxing by the small lakes that are characterizing this green oasis in the middle of the grey and asphalted Changsha.

During a ten-day long vacation to Zhangjiajie and the Yangtze River, we had a night's stay in Changsha. As we were with a tour group, we checked in at a different entrance to the hotel which was slightly confusing but nevertheless efficient. We stayed at the apartment wing of the hotel which was some distance away from reception, passing through their small shopping street and through the outside. Even with the shelter shielding us from the rainy weather at the time, it was inconvenient to pass through the cold winds before proceeding to our rooms.

The room itself was above average. Tidy and furbished nicely. The double beds were comfortable and were of moderate hardness. As with most Chinese hotels, the shower cubicle could be clearly seen from the bedroom, so make sure to close the blinds before bathing. No outstanding stains or specks were found.

Unluckily, within minutes of settling in, my father received the grave news of our grandmother's untimely death. No longer in the mood to continue the holiday, he decided to return home as soon as possible. We went to the flight centre at the aforementioned shopping street to book a one-way ticket home. They said they could only search domestic flights within China, while we lived in Singapore. When they did produce a result, it was a $1,500 ticket indirect flight leaving on the next day. Using the free Wi-Fi service they had provided, we found tickets that cost a mere $300+. Our travel agent who also assisted us showed similar results to mine. It's baffling how their flight centre is so inept as to come up with such expensive results but at least the service staff there tried their best.

Breakfast was good. Western dishes was served along with cereal. A bit of a hard find as it later proved during the course of our trip. Since we had no time to explore the hotel the day before, I decided to have a look at the swimming pool. My poor command of Chinese made communication with a staff member at the lift lobby to the swimming pool difficult. She eventually replied in Chinese very rudely, "What are you doing?" I was appalled at this standard of service and I reasoned with her on my intentions. She said that the swimming pool was closed. Granted, she may have believed I was playing a practical joke, but it remains unacceptable that they make such quick judgements.

Wi-Fi is only available on the ground floor. It works moderately well.

Overall, it's a good hotel for staying in Changsha. Not something utterly spectacular but it does the job well. Having booked with a travel agency, we were not sure of the pricing of the hotel. I won't call this out in particular as a hotel to stay in but I will give the go-ahead for those wishing to.

Room Tip: Don't take an Apartment Wing room. Try to get one nearer to the hotel.
