My daughter has loved Kidsenses for the last 6 years! She went to a birthday party there when she was 3 and has not stopped talking about it since. There is so much to do here that it can keep any kid occupied for hours! Best part about it, all the exhibits have an educational aspect so they are learning while they are playing. It's kinda like sneaking in vegetables on a pizza :) Kidsenses is definitely a win, win for parents and kids!

We love KidSenses! It is located on Main Street in Rutherfordton, in a small two-story building. The museum has lots of wonderful, imaginative interactive rooms. The first floor has a firetruck, veterinary clinic, tv station, very realistic grocery store, "alphabet trail" (very cool forest-themed area for younger children - under 4 years, I believe), art/craft room and a room with all sorts of tubes with valves to direct air through them - children put scarves and giant pom-poms in the pipes and the items shoot out of them. The second floor includes a bubble room, table with an electromagnet, detailed Mexican restaurant, puppet theater and a few other activities. I like the size of the museum and reasonable price. At first glance there is not a "ton" of places to go in conjunction with a visit here, but really, if you are taking young children out, do you want a ton of stops? There is an ice cream shop across the street (nothing fancy), a bookstore down the road, a great Mexican restaurant (Mi Pueblito) a short driving distance away. I would suggest calling ahead - I think they have free days occasionally and it can be too crowded then. Fridays they are open until 8 PM and I find that to usually be a quiet time.

This is an interactive children's museum located on the main street of Rutherfordton, NC. The first thing you see when you enter the museum is a fire engine that the children can climb on, steer, ring the bell, and slide down a pole. There are fireman clothes that children can wear. The W-Fun Studio has an anchor desk and camera that children can use. Next door is Little Family Dollar. This was a hit with our 3-year-old. There are grocery carts, play food, and cash registers. Children can load their grocery carts and check out at the counter. In the Gear & Gadgets room is a table with gears, a tornado machine, and an airmaze, which was a hit with both grandsons. The Alphabet Trail is an area for children ages 1-4. Creation Station has all kinds of art supplies that children can use. One room was like a vet's office. The Big Climber is an enclosed climbing area that children can use to get from one floor to another. On the lower level is an area with trains and tracks. In the bubble room children can create bubbles of all sizes. There is a shadow room and an electromagnet that children can explore. The restaurant allows children to play at making and serving food, and there is a stage for performing. We had an enjoyable time at the museum.
