A group of 30-something guys traveled to a sporting event nearby and booked stays at the S8 as a budget conscious choice. This was a mistake.
There was only one employee at the front desk who talked on the phone for a good five minutes before she acknowledged our presence. After hanging up, she started processing us through. Among us, we had five rooms. She asked for our vehicle make and model and tag number. Obviously no one knew their tag number by heart so we started to go outside to find it. She rudely stated it didn't matter and that she didn't have time for that. So we skipped that. When I got to the desk she said that my room wasn't cleaned (everyone else's was) and that it would be fifteen minutes.
Eventually we were given keys and hauled our crap up to the second floor (there is no elevator and the cleaning lady we asked didn't speak English so we couldn't find the stairs).
We got in the room and our bathroom door didn't lock. Another buddy said his door didn't even shut! Door wouldn't fit in the jamb.
Overall it was run down. Peeling wallpaper and thick stench of cigarette smoke in the hall. Our room smelled of cigarettes despite being non smoking.
Our sheets and linens appeared to be clean, at least, if spartan.
Bad experience. Badly in need of a renovation and better staff.
It's a alright place, but can use some improving, the personnel is polite and courteous, traffic noise and steep stairs are a nuesense
