My family thoroughly enjoyed La Cava this evening. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was as good as it gets.

It is a very unique and interesting atmosphere. It is in an old church. Beautiful stained glass and ambiance.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It could not have been a better night.

Thank you La Cava.

This restaurant was recommended to us, and it was as great as we were told it was. Food and drinks were outstanding, service was attentive and the setting was that of a former church with lovely stained glass windows. Unique and lovely for a restaurant.

La Cava Restaurant combines their delicious food with a very charming atmosphere. It was once a church so you are surrounded by high ceilings and beautiful stained glass windows. Enjoyed my Caprese Salad and Lobster Ravioli.

When I called to make the reservation, I was told they could squeeze us in at 5:30. We didn’t want to go that early, but I took what was available. Upon arrival at 5:30, the doors were locked and all the 5:30 reservations were standing in the cold. We had to call from outside to get someone to let us in. Their response...@ we don’t open u til 5:30”. The restaurant was not even half full, so I’m not sure why they told me they squeezed us in. We were seated and the oil was poured for bread.... but the bread didn’t come for 15 more minutes. The food was expensive but not memorable at all. It is a beautiful facility in an old church. It could potentially be fabulous.... but I would never eat here again. Very disappointing. My sister warned me it wasn’t that good for the money.... my son also told me that. But I wanted to give my 82 year old mother a memorable New Year’s Eve. But after standing in the cold waiting to get in... she was ready to leave before we even got started. If you want great italian food in salisbury....this is not your place.

We were on our return from Charlotte to Greensboro and opted for La Cava—only a few miles off I-85. We lucked out and snagged a last minute reservation for 5:30PM—as they opened. First they’d changed to a 1 page menu a few months earlier. However, what we ordered was exquisite. Limited options for wine by the glass and many bottles were 3 figures.

I chose the Branzino, a Mediterranean Sea Bass. They cooked the whole fish then the server prepared the filets at our table. Extraordinary! I forget what else we ordered apart from the Tiramisu which was a large portion and phenomenal! We were so sated we couldn’t finish it!

The church setting provided a unique ambiance with the large open spaces and exquisite stained glass windows. Bathrooms are small and one washes one’s hands in a sink just outside the bathrooms—apparently just as parishioners were won’t to do when it was a sanctuary. But I bet that picture of Sophia Loren in the men’s bathroom wasn’t hanging there in that earlier Church incarnation!

Be prepared for sticker shock if you were expecting a cheap meal. However, there seems to be faithful clientele at La Cava—at least on the Saturday night we visited—and what we ordered was phenomenal. For those in search of a unique experience in culinary ambiance why not venture off the I-85 corridor and check it out? We’ll be returning for a special occasion.
