Our family of three just spent three nights at the Blockade Runner.
Pros:
- Loved our ocean view
- The hot buffet breakfast
- Really enjoyed hanging out on the grounds, both the ocean and sound sides
- Beach was not too crowded, especially when walking in the evening
- Having lunch by the pool
- Both meals we ate at the hotel were great
- Location - easy to walk to restaurants
- Free parking
- Had a great time on the complimentary sailing cruise
- Enjoyed the room/lobby décor
- Comfortable beds

Cons:
- Poor wifi connection
- Room needed a little attention with rust in the bathroom and a little mold above the A/C vent
- Bathrooms are small due to being an older property

We are looking forward to our next visit. This is a great hotel for families. Even my 13 year old was happy! If you are a couple looking for a modern, luxury beachfront property, then you may be disappointed, but it is a great fit for families looking for a wonderful location and good amenities. Next time, we hope to take advantage of renting a kayak or paddleboards. You could definitely spend a whole week in the summer and have plenty to do!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blockade Runner this week! All the employees were very helpful. They have a great hot buffet breakfast that comes with the room. The rooms are spacious although could use some updates. The views are beautiful of the bay or the ocean. One tip is if possible bring your own beach chairs. They have them there but charge $10 per lounger on the beach per day and $15 per umbrella. That seemed high to me. But other than that we were very please and definitely will come back! The location is perfect! wifi service was only OKAY.

Room Tip: We had a bay view room and it was beautiful.

We were completely disappointed , after seeing the pictures on line and then pulling into resort my heart sunk ... looks nothing like the pictures they have on line , the rooms are tiny, low ceilings, dirty , doors to enter room are not code ! 30" doors ?? Our room had hair everywhere, mold on windows and tile grout is filthy !! I'm just saying I spend several weeks a year traveling and spending time in 4 star resorts , I would have to say this is a 2 star hotel and our family would never consider this place again !!

This past weekend was our first time staying at here and we had a wonderful time! The location of the hotel is perfect. It's a quick walk to Tower 7 (love their tacos) and the strip of shops/restaurants in WB. The service and staff were very nice, professional, and helpful. The resort grounds were probably the best part! We enjoyed grabbing a bite at the beach bar and also loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn in the evenings. Breakfast in the mornings were a huge plus too. The only drawback for us was the tiny bathroom and no balcony off of our room. We would definitely return though!

Dear lovemysilverbug,
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are delighted that you were able to enjoy many of the benefits of our resort. We just want to let you know that we do have a balcony section on the north side of our grounds. Please make sure to inquire about them when you start to plan your next visit. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

It's been awhile since I've review BR, but that doesn't mean we haven't had 15+ visits there in the past 2 years. Just spent a wonderful weekend there with our whole family and had a wonderful time. The view from our ocean front room was spectacular! (But I'm also a fan of harbor front rooms - the sunsets are breath-taking!) The rooms are very large considering other ocean front hotels on the island. We had 2 queens and a roll-away and had plenty of room. The beds are the best in any hotel we've stayed in and we love the soft, lightweight bed linens. There were lots of activities going on for adults and kids and the staff, as always, was attentive, pleasant and aimed to please! Dinner on the patio at East was 5 star! We had surf and turf, the catch of the day, Swordfish, and the Moroccan Chicken and sent empty plates back to the kitchen lol. I'm a huge fan of the Runner Salad, the white balsamic dressing is incredible! She crab soup and homemade pimento cheese were big hits also! :You just can't beat that view while dining. The breakfast buffet is a big hit with us. Everything you could ever want for breakfast prepared well. Go early to beat the mad rush before it closes :) Once we arrive, we almost never leave the property. I've said before that they have the hardest working staff on the island and it remains true. I did notice this summer that valet guys are wearing longs pants - can't imagine why! They spend alot of their time running to get cars at satellite lots and stand in the hot sun most of the day. I thought they look much more "resorty" and professional in khaki shorts. Hoping they go back to that - they just don't have "the look" one would expect when you drive up under the portico. They work hard to park cars, transport your luggage, fill you in on what's happening at the hotel while you are there and are happy to transport you anywhere you need to go on the island. Tip them well - they deserve it! Our stay was easy as could be from our check in (wonderful front desk staff) to check out - thank you Jessica for sorting out our little glitch so easily and with a big smile! Can't wait to go again very soon and enjoy a little piece of paradise. #LikeNoPlaceElse #foreverfan
