“A really lovely place.”
Reviewed 14 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This was our second time at this location and was even better than the first, owing to the good weather. We arranged to arrive early, but the gite was well prepared, even down to a welcoming bottle of wine! My wife has a mobility problem, but there is only one step inside the building, making this ideal. As returning customers, the Wi-Fi was also free.
Although it seems to be in the middle of nowhere, everything is within easy reach by car on roads that are never busy. The bar/restaurant in the village is within easy walking distance, does a very reasonable menu and has a nice atmosphere.
All in all, I can't fault the place. Excellent value for money.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at La Maison Violet. I agree Brittany in the sunshine is so much nicer!. We too love the Old Ivy Restaurant, an authentic French restaurant, even down to the old French Farmers in blue overalls and berets propping up the bar at lunchtime!. Hope to see you again when you are next in Brittany!

So pleased that you returned home relaxed after a peaceful holiday in La Maison Violet.

La Maison Violet is located in a small village and yes, there are so many beautiful places to visit, like the chateau at Josselin and the gardens at Brociliande. La Gacilly, home to Yves Rocher is a very pretty town and during the summer months it hosts an enormous outdoor photographic exhibition (all free).

The Golfe de Morbihan provides miles of sandy beaches so you will always be able to find a quiet cove.

Hope to see you again when you are next in Brittany.

“Does what it says on the tin”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in May 2014

We'd like to say a big thank you for the accurate description of the gite and surroundings - so good when it does what it says on the tin! The gite and it's location was everything we wanted for our return to Brittany after far too long. We were able to visit old favourites such as Josselin, Dinan and Cancale (you must try the Fruits de Mer)as well as discovering new. La Roche Bernard was a delight; we escaped a heavy downpour by having a 2 course 'formule' at Les Deux Magots - thank goodness for rain!
We particularly liked Malestroit, for the market, fabulous buildings, canal and Le grain de Sel.
The sunshine arrived, as predicted by Nicola; we'd forgotten about the incredible blue of the sea and those fantastic beaches - no wonder we used to love them so much with our children.
Can't wait to be back!

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay in La Maison Violet. It is so good to return to an area and find it is the same as when you last visited.
Malestroit, is a fantastic medieval town, the architecture in the town square is quite impressive. There is a leaflet available from the Tourist Information Office (available in French and English!) which takes you on a guided walk around Malestroit and points out lots of historical facts you may easily miss!.
The sea in the Golfe de Morbihan is second to none!.. whether you are looking for miles of sand, tiny deserted coves or the cote savage (wild coast) Brittany has it all!
Looking forward to seeing you again when you are next in Brittany!
