This is the type of authentic, eco-friendly accommodation we love. As soon as we arrived we felt relaxed. The owners have created this hidden oasis of calm and serenity and they should be very proud of their achievements. Gingoya Lodge is very good value for money. It is quite a classy and upmarket place, with lots of attention to detail, very understated with colonial style dining and seating areas with quality furniture. Their website is very good but from the photos you just cannot appreciate how wonderful the setting is. It's an absolute paradise and completely exceeded our expectations. The detached bungalow accommodation is spacious, clean and well presented overlooking the river. A nice touch was the fine muslin netting over the comfy queen size bed, which is a nice alternative to the normal mesh nets. We still got bitten by the pesky mosquitos. The room had good a/c, fan, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge and wall safe. The ensuite was outdoorsy, but had plenty of hot water. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels provided. Leo's Breakfasts and 3 course set evening meals were delicious and surprisingly very good quality and great value for money. The entire dining experience was lovely with nice cutlery and crockery, plus service with a smile from Myrjam. The owners work hard to provide for your needs and always with great passion. You can feel the love that they have put into this place. The pool was wonderful to cool off in with high quality sunbed furniture. Watching the resident pet cow drinking from the pool was quite surreal. You can use the free kayaks and take a trip down the river to the ocean, there are even bicycles you can use. It was a real treat to see all the wildlife on a 20 minute paddle down the Gingoya River. You can take a tuk tuk into the centre of Negumbo for about 900 rupees each way. The only slight improvements I could suggest would be put some signage up at the end of the road so taxis can find the place, strengthen the the weak wifi signal/speed, discourage the dogs in the dining area and have a better payment system other than cash. Overall, this was an ideal way to unwind near the airport after or before a long flight, away from the hustle and bustle of Negumbo and Sri Lankan life and to relax at this wonderful peaceful retreat away from it all.

Such a luck to start our Sri Lanka holiday at the Ging Oya Lodge.....Myrijam and Leo created a paradise.....very quite, excellent food, large and beautiful bungalows, big pool and everywhere nature around. Myrijam is an artist and you can find her beautiful art in the garden. Leo is an excellent master cook...(his curry is amazing...a must to stay here in the Garden of Eden.......

Ging Oya is just heavenly, even better than it looks on the website, Miryam and Leo are wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble and the bungalows are quite perfect, they have thought of everything you could want. Great open air bathrooms, lovely thick towels and good sheets, mosquito nets, fan, air conditioning, fridge, kettle etc. Place to sit outside and in and a rare thing, a rack outside the back to dry towels, bathers etc. The pool is a really good size, lots of places to sit in and out of the sun and the lagoon peacefully beside. The open air dining and lobby are all lovely and the food very good (set menu in the evening) especially the Sri Lankan curries. Definitely plan to return for longer.

We spent the first 2 days of our Sri Lanka trip at Ging Oya Lodge. Wish we had booked more days. This place was the absolut highlight talking about hotels. This charming place is quiet, offers clean and comfortable rooms, a nice pool and lovely food.
The owners Myriam and Leo are running this place with passion and artistic touch.

This is a one of a kind oasis. We booked all seven bungalows for a one week company retreat. Ten of us stayed at the lodge and a further five stayed at the Club Dolphin. We held our our working sessions at the lodge where we were joined by our two local staff - Seventeen in all. Dinners were all served at the lodge.

Myrjam and Leo are truly wonderful hosts, the bungalows are private, quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast and the many dinners were prepared beautifully and the open dinning room was just perfect for meals and our meetings.

Myrjam can arrange a tuk tuk at the drop of a hat as well as airport transfers and even a boat to take us down the river for lunch.

I can not thank them enough for such a perfect setting and their wonderful hospitality.

Room tip: all the bungalows are equally beautiful and quiet
