This hotel is located across from the beach next to the free section, so no extortionate sun bed charges apply. It is on the quiet side of the resort and we'll away from club 18-30 bars, but near enough to the stalls and eateries.

The dining terrace overlooks the magnificent beach and is surrounded by lush gardens. All very beautiful. It is only a small charge for a sea view room, which is definitely worth it.

The hotel is in need of refurbishment, but this is reflected in the price and it is still comfortable as a base. It is filled with mainly eastern European guests, who are families, but all staff speak perfect English and they are very polite, friendly and helpful. However, be aware there are no British holidaymakers in the hotel or resort, it is very much for a young German crowd, and families.

The swimming pool inside and outside the hotel, though aged are like swimming in heaven, as the water is pumped in from a nearby hot spring with curative qualities. It is also pumped on to the beach, where holiday makers create a hot bath in the sand from it. All fun.

The hotel has a water therapy centre with treatments at very reasonable prices, reviews a fraction of uk. Though it's heyday was in the 60s, they were very good and would use again. We used to distress, but also for arthritis and skin disorders.

The real let down is the food, which is very low grade. I have always gone all inclusive and this is the only time I was not able to eat in the hotel. Food is so reasonable outside it wasn't a problem, but I would return to the hotel on a room only basis.

Overall a pleasant stay and would return for the great location.

I want to be fair-play and say a couple of positive: close to the beach, and they had a bid pool (but not cleaned and cold)
BAD rooms, you could hear everything from the hallway and other rooms, the balcony door did't close well, they didn't want to change the room for us, old furniture, old carpet, ugly bathroom.
The restaurant had very few foods available: everyday french-fries and chicken, and bad taste soups... I have been at another 2 star hotel in Albena where food & drinks were 10 times better and more diverse; all-inclusive without: beach umbrella& chairs; no other snacks or salads or ice-cream or anything other that the drinks at the bar (free only until 22:30)
People yelling and running on the hallway all the time; after 3 days we went and complained to the front desk they said to try & find the group leader and handle it ourselves.
NEVER EVER EVER will return!!! STAY away, pay extra 100 euros and enjoy your vacation!!!

Room Tip: there are rooms with seaview, but not even extra tip assures you will get it...

We have been to golden sands Bulgaria for many years including this year. And once again it's been brilliant. Made extra special by the staff at the ambassador restaurant which is located near the shipka hotel.
There so polite and so welcoming. The food can only be described as superb.and the entertainment is really good and sing in a multitude of languages. So everyone's happy.all in all a must place to visit.

Pros: near the seaside (3 min walk), near all sorts of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, good distance from the clubs, great view, welcoming receptionists, big pool, ok-ish breakfast, the restaurant by the pool has excellent food(we tried the grilled pork mix and some salad) with decent prices

Cons: lazy house-cleaners (7 nights stay, they only changed our bed sheets and towels on our 6th day; no new soaps), they don't have a hairdryer and you have to ask for one at the reception and bring it back asap because they have only 3 for the whole hotel, the walls are really thin and you can hear every moan, laughter, fight or drunk people around you, no on/off switch for the balcony light (it goes on at about 9pm and stays like that for like an hour, then u have no possibility of turning it on again if you need it), it doesn't have a twin bed(in the double room), it only has 2 beds that you have to move together. they offer only paid wifi (20 leva=10 euro for 7 days) but they told us the quality isn't so great so we didn't get one, but all the restaurants/bars around have wifi and you can login there.

if you choose sea-view get a higher floor, if you'll get a room on the first floor your view will be of the trees and not the sea (which is a good thing because you won't be that hot when you enjoy your stay on the balcony).
