Old school, nicely updated motel. While the furnishings are a mix of styles, the appliances (including a Keurig, a standard coffee maker, digital TV with a large cable selection) are current models. North American and local calls are no charge.
The owner could not have been nicer. He offered to help with the luggage. He told us that he plans to continue to make upgrades.
The only knock is the road noise from heavy trucks using their compression brakes heading north. The convenient location of the Round Up accounts for that.
There is a short, pleasant walk up the hill on a brick sidewalk. There are two restaurants in reasonable walking distance.
The bath facilities have been renewed, with nice tile in the separate bath-shower / toilet room. The sink which is in the room faces the good sized fridge. Cups, bowls and silverware are provided as is a microwave.
Another plus is the very reasonable charge for our small dog. There is a good lawn on the property as well as on the local streets for walks.
We do not recommend the unpaved portion of Kelly Lake road unless you are prepared for a fairly tough go, particularly if it is or has been wet. We were fortunate in reaching Highway 99 before the rain closed in. We encountered one vehicle and were stopped for a few minutes for treeing. It would be challenging if there had been more traffic. The reward are some big views and seeing cattle within touching distance.
