Review of Owl's Head
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Jun 2019
My wife and I just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. Our package for hotel, golf, breakfast and supper was very reasonably priced. Our first impression of the site, was slightly muted due to the surrounding appearance. Understand this was springtime, and the site is at the base of Mt. Owl's Head ski hill in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, not the most picturesque site. However we were greeted by a very inthusastic Carla at the front desk. Our room #310 was basically a suite with living-room and bedroom, found to be spotless and very well appointed.
Our meals, supper and breakfast, were not served at the hotel, but at the Golf course club house. An excellent venue with windows that allow for vast panoramas of the golf course and the surrounding mountains.
The service at this hotel and golf course is without a doubt the best we have experienced in the Eastern Townships. Nothing is a problem for them to arrange. Wether it's an food allergy, a forgotten food coupon, a cork screw or even a change of T time (Merci Stephan). All is handled with a smile.
Date of stay: May 2019
Room Tip: #310 at the end of the hall, very quiet.

First off let me say the skiing was fantastic but the lodge is disgusting. The restaurant service was 1 he wait for a drink and over 2hrs for dinner to arrive...both nights.
The apt condos we're like a hostel. Dirty...old....dated like the Bates motel. The problem is there is no where else to stay.

This is another review by me of this Auberge. The last time it was my second stay, this is my 5 th. Nothing has changed I mean NOTHING! same great Staff and service, same great food and friendly “ family” type place. Its a small mountain but the skiing is not small. We keep comming back here, that speaks volumes. I would like to see the snow making go for longer though as this year it warmed up to early and could have used a bit more when it was cold enough to make.

Oh the nothing has changed applies to the rooms too, retro ski feel, there is no TV or phone and this is not a complaint, its actually nice.what is new, a few years back wifi was added and it works great. Im guessing if there was upgrades and renovations the prices would have to reflect this, im happy as you are 😊

One small thing would be nice to have a few hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes etc on.

Second time we've come to Owl's Head, and it was just as amazing as our first ski trip 6 years ago (when we were just starting to ski). We brought our 3 year old this time and had her up on her skis and it was so quiet during the week we had no worry when we were going up the lifts or down the hills. Everyone that works here is very gentle and kind and mostly speak French and English! I foresee this becoming a frequent winter escape for us. There were no lines on the lifts, a lot of ice on the blacks and some on blues but when we got fresh powder there was over a foot the one day. It was perfect.

Skiing conditions were great! Lots of snow, no lift lines, varied terrain.

Basic cafeteria and bar... no real Après Ski.

Meal included at the Auberge dining room was 5star!!! It was a an excellent three course meal, quality food, well prepared and great service!!!

Breakfast was very good in cafeteria, cook and cashier were very friendly!

Auberge accommodations are dated and basic but very clean. There are no TV's so be prepared for quiet night....unless your neighbours are loud!! Room has a nice balcony overlooking ski hill. The walls are very thin... can hear every conversation.

It was so convenient to be staying right on the hill!

Skied Owl's Head after Mont Orford & Mont Sutton the previous days. Had sunshine, clear and cold conditions. Lots of snow guns blasting away and were avoided like the plague. Lots of closed runs & glades. Lilly's Leap and the Magog & Rodeo glades were the best 3 runs of the day. Gorgeous views of Lac Memphramagog and Vermont to the south. Jay Peak in the west easily seen from the summit. The slope faces north so is in the shade most of the day. The groomers were icy and had to ski the sides to find the snow for easy turns. No crowds and no lift lines at all. We skied for free on coupons so I cannot complain about anything, The drive in was using back roads and the drive out was using main roads. Easy ingress/egress. Lots of parking and were able to park close to the slopes. Friendly bilingual staff. Skied Sutton, Orford and Owl's Head in 3 days. The views here were #1. The skiing was #3 compared to the others.

Room tip: Only skied here
