This is a unique 'family feel' hotel with large beautiful grounds. One can relax in a chaise lounge by the pool, enjoy comfortable couch/chair in the lobby, which is really a courtyard, or use the terrace which many rooms have. Quite a few rooms also have kitchenettes. Everything you need is there, if not, you can ask for it. The owners take pride in their hotel and are continuously looking after it and improving it.

Three dogs and two cats are residents. They are well behaved and enhance the atmosphere, at least for animal lovers. The view is spectacular and it's mostly quiet except for daytime noise from a glass/aluminum shop across the street.
Parking is available if you have a car.

Barking dogs and crowing roosters are part of the charm of the village that one probably cannot escape being this close to the village. Please note that
walking several blocks uphill/downhill on cobble stone streets with uneven sidewalks is part of staying at this lovely place. Loved it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good. For quieter room, take one further away from the street. No. 4 is a nice roo...

This hotel was recommended to us and is very close walking distance to the main part of town. It also has parking which was important to us. The rooms are very sweet and the staff are wonderful. It was clean and bright and very quite. The pillows and the towels are a bit thin but all in all we liked the place. And it was a surprise to see 2 Corgi dogs there which provided great entertainment.

This is a gem of a hotel located above the town for the best view of the lake. It is a family owned property where guests are welcomed with warm smiles and encouraged to enjoy their hospitality. The rooms are large, open and our room (3) has an all glass pop out window for a 180 view of the sky and lake. a seating area in the patio with comfortable lounge furniture; great reading niche.
Gabriela, the owner will accommodate any request, even sit down in the evening for a glass of wine and speak spanish or english, very rare in many touristy areas. On a quiet, cobbled street about 4 blocks from the main drag if Ajijic. Breakfast is included, local breads, cakes, fruit, coffee and they will also cook a typical breakfast at added cost. We will be returning in the future.

Room Tip: 2,3,4 on ground level, not sure about 2nd floor rooms but probably have lake view. There are cabanas...

We spent 2 nights here in November. Even though we arrived late, we were greeted warmly by Abuela herself. Our room was clean, and nicely decorated. For me, the open courtyard was the real draw. It was an inviting and comfortable place to spend time in the mornings. The hotel is well located, in a quiet residential area, and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. They also have a large and secure parking area. I am happy to recommend this place and will stay here again when we return to Ajijic.

Room Tip: Our room was large and sunny and faced the lake.

The Grandmother, Teresa, is originally form the State of Michoacán. In 1998 she retired from her business, and moved to the State of Jalisco. She became enamored with the panoramic views and the quality of the people in Ajijic. She soon purchased a beautiful piece of property and began the process of transforming it into the "Casa de la Abuela" B & B. Michoacán is known for artisans that produce precision works of art from various types of wood. Because of this, she decided to decorate each room with the furniture and art work which is typical of her home state.
