Spring is finally here in between the showers. Daffodil valley is in full bloom and looking wonderful. The colder spring means the winter garden still looks good with hellebores now at their best, silver birches, coloured stemmed brambles and contorted hazels. To get off the main track a bit more try the Barons walk - especially the part behind the stables block. This is a hidden gem in the spring with more daffodils and a rock garden with a large and varied display of hellebores.

This NT site is fantastic, Plenty of Parking, Plenty to See, Plenty of Toilets and and great insights into the history of the place. The gardens even in August were great. Well worth a long visit or even a day out. food is available in multiple places as the site is large.

I go mainly to see the Gardens at Waddesdon. Different times of the year..different displays. Just now the range of Tulips are coming into their own and despite the awful weather had done well. In Summer the main beds by the front of the house are a picture and riot of colour. There are nice tea shops, not all of them open through Winter but you can usually get a cup of coffee somewhere there. Beautifully kept grounds .

A party of 18 of us visited Waddesdon today and we had a glorious time. Beautiful rooms, the loveliest gift shop I have ever seen and set high up on beautiful countryside. Mention must also be made of the staff, they were all so helpful. The aviary also has some colourful birds.
One word of warning: the house is very large and the gardens are vast, if you wish to see everything that Waddesdon has to offer you do need to be able to walk some good distances and climb quite a lot of stairs.
