Owner description: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH THE GARDENS ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK, THE HALL IS ONLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON TUESDAYS, SUNDAYS AND BANK HOLIDAYS. Arley is a place of enormous character, charm and interest. Visitors are frequently struck by the warm and intimate atmosphere and the feeling that Arley is a much-cherished family home. The Gardens, which are amongst the finest in Britain, are outstanding for their vitality, variety and historical interest and are particularly celebrated for the magnificent double herbaceous border. The Hall is an impressive example of a Victorian country house built in the Elizabethan style.

You visit on thier terms seemingly dictated by the gift shop guardians. Dont cycle, walk on the wrong path, ask the wrong question, breathe in the wrong way or ask for a map.

I’ve been here so many times, to simply walk around the gardens and the woodland. The events are always great, like the garden festival in June with music, activities for children, the beautiful gardens, floral displays and lots of plants to buy. There are Christmas events, walking tours, and a peaceful place to picnic. The website gives a good idea of the variety of things you can do here. You won’t be disappointed.

On a cold and wet February day it was nice to find a house open to the public. Some beautiful ceilings, nice paintings and interesting family history. We did the snowdrops walk and saw lots of recently planted snowdrops but they needed to be divided soon to make the drifts more natural. The meal in the cafe was excellent and worthy of a review on its own.
