A few work colleagues went one mid week evening just before Christmas for a Christmas get together. It's a lovely quaint and charming country pub which ozes in character but with a modern twist. The service, meal, choice of drinks were second to none. Our meals were delicious and quite special and the service excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone.

We were advised to visit The Rpyal Yew for a meal, turned up unannounced on a busy Saturday night and had a lovely experience in a really pleasant pub/restaurant.

We received a very friendly welcome, and quickly shown to our table
The menu choices were good, as were the specials. We shared a bucket of mussels as a starter, and both really enjoyed our mains.

All of the staff were very pleasant and friendly, and made our experience really enjoyable.

Well worth a visit. We'll be back next time we're in the area.

We spent the first night of our Dean-based Lakes holiday at the Royal Yew. Essentially, it's decent pub food in a jazzed-up olde worlde tavern. The food's good rather than great. A decent fish pie came with unnecessary hunks of toasted bread - surely these would have been a better accompaniment to the dressed crab than the anaemic chips? Dessert was a rich chocolate pot with the texture and flavour of the utterly delicious, totally bad for you dulce de leche. Yummy!

Called in off spec for an early tea and got a two meal deal including a bottle of wine.... The gammon steak meal was enormous with all the trimmings, it was amazing, very tasty and far too much but couldn't stop eating it..... Fantastic. Barmaid was friendly and helpful and the chef even started cooking early for us, customer service exceptional

Lovely pub, with delicious food. Portions were absolutely huge (perhaps a little too large for myself) but all great quality and very tasty. Plenty of choice on the menu. Very reasonably priced.
