A full coachload from our club took every room in this hotel for our annual autumn 5 day break and for the first time in the 8 or so years its been going, there wasn't a single complaint from the 53 members who went. For the money we paid (£185 each inc our coach travel and excursions from Cumbernauld), you simply couldn't complain about the service, the cleanliness, the rooms or the food. And the food... oh the food, what can l say. The breakfasts are standard well cooked British fayre, but dinners took the star turn. Three choices with each course and all our group raved about the choice, quantity and most importantly the quality of the main courses, all served with three types of fresh veg. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. I don't know how much it would be for one room bookings but if you're going to the Cumberland as part of a coach party, you've knocked it off. The decor in the public rooms may be a little chintzy, but if you're only there for a few days, what does it matter? Although some of the rooms were a bit on the small side, they were clean and tidy and that's all that mattered for a five day stay.
