“Great cottage, charming owners, great location”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The Mistal is one of 3 cottages that have been superbly restored by Karen and (particularly) Jeff, consisting of a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining area/living-room with attached downstairs loo/cloakroom and 2 double ensuite bedrooms. Fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard and the beds were a joy to sleep in.
If you re interested in tennis or fishing, then bring your gear, it s all onsite.
Karen & Jeff's welcome pack was very welcome as was their help and advice throughout our stay.

“5* Holiday Cottage - you will not be disappointed!”
Reviewed 28 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We have recently returned from a wonderful 5 night stay at the Mistal. From start to finish we could not have asked for more. The property was easy to find from the excellent directions provided by Karen and Jeff prior to our arrival and we were met by Karen and their dog Tangles as we pulled into our parking space. Karen showed us around and made us feel very welcome. She pointed out the grounds of Old Low Moor Farm including the stables, fishing lake and playground which holiday makers are invited to use. The setting of the farm is absolutely beautiful and tranquil, with views of the hills from the bedroom.

We have a young daughter so were a little apprehensive about the spectacular open wooden staircase before arriving but we needn't have worried! Karen and Jeff had installed two stair gates before we arrived and even provided a cot bed and bedding for our toddler. There were a few toys and books for her too and a highchair could have been provided if we had needed it. There was also a great selection of board games in the cupboard.

The property has been renovated to a very high standard, with beautiful fixtures and fittings and high quality soft furnishings etc. It really made it feel like a holiday to relax in such a luxurious place. Karen had also provided a lovely welcome hamper with some essentials and Yorkshire goodies for us to enjoy. It was a lovely and thoughtful touch.

If you are thinking of booking the Mistal, do not hesitate. You will not be disappointed!

“Fantastic home and the friendliest owners!”
Reviewed 14 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We stayed at The Mistal for a long weekend with another couple and their little dog. The owners, Karen and Jeff, were so friendly and absolutely fantastic from the very first enquiry through to the morning we left. The directions and information they gave us made everything so easy.

The standard of the accommodation is just wonderful - beautiful finishes on everything, gorgeous bathrooms, thoughtful hotel-y touches like little soaps, bottles of shower gel, and televisions in the bedrooms.

There's a lovely patio with dining table, chairs and BBQ. There's also a tennis court and we played a lot more than we thought we would! It was great for working off a few of the big dinners we made in the well-equipped kitchen.

The Dog and Gun, a great local pub recommended by Karen and Jeff, is just a 10-minute walk away in the village. The food and service were both impressive - the cajun chicken and avocado burger was on another level! And the charming towns of Thirsk and Northallerton are both a short drive away, too.

I'd definitely recommend The Mistal for a relaxing break in beautiful Yorkshire. We'll be back!
