We were quite surprised at the beauty of the area. The water is crystal clear and you can see the sandy bottom with the odd tortoise or eel cruising past. There are BBQ's and shelters there for the family outing or just go for a walk along the path to the Gorge, enjoying the rainforest along the way. The water looked very inviting but a bit cold judging by the many people sitting on the banks or rocks trying to get warm in the sun. National Parks have done a lovely job with the facilities there as well, providing stairs and platforms for the swimmers.
To get there you take the turnoff into Babinda from the Bruce Highway and just keep going to the end of the road. It's about a 15-20 minute drive if that.
