we chose a self contained cabin away from pool. nice and quiet. very comfortable with all the expected amenities. on ocean front with outstanding views of Hinchinbrook Is. walking distance to shops, cafes etc. Throw the car keys away !. This is the place for us when in this locality.

Room Tip: good range of accommodation to choose from.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean view villa facing Hinchinbrook Island. Initially it was very hot but aircon soon kicked in. Has the most glorious views from the veranda which is shaded in the afternoon. The villas are fully self contained and beautifully decorated, comfy beds and big modern bathrooms. Free parking close to door. Huge lounge/kitchen/dining area, very high A-frame ceiling makes it very spacious. Lovely swim in the pool, warm like a bath, was great. IGA around the corner and bottle shop just down the street. There is also a lovely golf course close by. Thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: Ocean view villas have great views.

One night stay in motel accomodation in an upstairs unit. Basic accomodation but clean, bright and airy. Ocean view. No microwave but tea and coffee facilities and small bar fridge.

The Downstairs restaurant is a relaxing spot to have drinks in the afternoon. It has great view looking out to Hinchinbrook Island. Stay on for dinner (you may need to book) the meals are beautiful. Noted if unable to get a table there are takeaway options (pizza or fish and chips) available. Restaurant Breakfast from 7:30am.

Laundry facilities on-site. Only downside very soft mattress (I'm accustomed to a firm mattress this may not be an issue to others)

Friendly staff. Definitely will stay again.

It was only a one-night, impromptu stay which we were lucky to get as it was the last room left in the motel..
Well appointed room, comfortable beds, beautiful outlook onto the beach and ocean.
Friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyable meals.
No telephone with which to contact reception or for room service - we actually needed to go to the restaurant to order.

Room Tip: Best rooms are the ones with beach views. Rooms come with a small outdoor table&chairs facing the beach.

The Beachcomber has a mix of accommodation: caravan sites, self contained units and motel rooms. The motel rooms are clean and comfortable, but basic. The motel units do overlook the Hinchinbrook Channel, which is very pleasant.

The restaurant serves some of the best food in town. If you intend to break you journey in Cardwell, or need to stay in Cardwell for business, the Beachcomber is well worth a look and probably the best in town.
