I cannot write highly enough of Wendy and her kindness, staying at Hill Top Farm is like staying with a dear friend. The farm is surrounded by distant low mountains and is about 20 minutes from the interesting town of Cooktownl
To the practicalites. We stayed in the cabin and the tent in July, both were comfortable, warm and quiet. The outdoor kitchen/ living area was well equipped and sheltered from the elements. We bought Wendy's breakfast packs, which included her home made bread, and fruit and vegetables from her garden. In the early evening we lit a fire in the outdoor fireplace with wood provided by Wendy and sat enjoying Pepper's (the puppy's) endearing antics.and watching the last of the sunset. We were able to wander around the farm freely as were the ducks and, at times, the geese.
Hill Top Farm stay will suit people who want "to tread lightly on the land", everything felt right.

Hilltop Farm is a wonderfully rustic and comfortable place to stay. The surrounding landscape is stunning and living outside in the kitchen/dining/lounge in rain (sheltered) or shine was bliss. We stayed with our two teenage boys, who fell in love with Pepper the puppy. It is a totally relaxing environment with a lot more charm to it than a motel in town. And even though I am not a fan of outside ablutions, I found this very easy to cope with and worth the compromise! Wendy is a lovely host - nothing is too much trouble. A very memorable experience for all of us!

Room Tip: Personally I loved sleeping in the tent with the air breeze coming in right next to me. The bed was super comfy too.

We stayed at Hilltop for several weeks during the 'wet'. What a wonderful, peaceful place. The cabin is as comfortable and well appointed. Wendy is a welcoming and informative host. We have learned a lot about permaculture and the local area.
Gorgeous skies and sunsets.
The dog was welcomed and loved the space and freedom.

We stayed on Wendy’s Farm for three days in August. It was just the quiet place in nature, we had been looking for: beautiful walks nearby, and Cooktown ist just a short drive away. Wendy took the time to give us insight about organic farming/Permaculture. Coming from Germany we appreciated her british background and her stories about living in Australia. Accomodation in the container was comfortable. The library contained good books on Australian wildlife. Very interesting: the practically odorless “nature toilet”. We can recommend Hilltop Farmstay for every nature-loving visitor of North Queensland, who likes to wind down and who is not dependent on tiled bathrooms.

This was a beautiful quiet calm green place to stay. The simplicity was a welcome change to busy city living with all the trappings. To see the milky way, the new moon, knee high grass, geese, the fruit trees & crops, the list goes on......was such a treat. Our 9 year old son loved the animals. It was very interesting talking to Wendy about her property & how she works the land. We also enjoyed meeting Laura from Boston who is a WWOOFER (Willing Workers on Organic Farms), she was helping Wendy. I would highly recommend Hill Top Farm to anyone wanting something more meaningful, this was a really wonderful experience.
