A Must visit if you want a relaxing break from crowds. Beautiful Beaches, quiet, relaxing but still lots to do in the area and surrounds.

I love this place, it's very zen.

It's a place you go to relax, get rid of your work brain and just chill.....

It caters to all ages, North mission is great for a little nightlife action and South mission is perfect for relaxing.

I personally am in love with South mission. There are two boat ramps there for the fishing freaks, one down the end of Jackey jackey road and the other at the end on Kennedy espalnade.

I recommend putting the boat back on at the Jackey Jackey ramp as it tends to get very windy and sometimes the tide goes out a fair bit but the boat ramp at Kennedy esplande doesnt go all the way out with it.

I also would rather get fish and chips from the dunk island view take away in wongaling and its much tastier.

Oh and the local supermarket (woolworths) in wongaling doesn't open on a Sunday.

The surf club in South mission, serves large portions of food, however take cash if you wish to purchase a drink as they can't use card to purchase drinks.

A great place to walk is along the cliff side near the Kennedy esplande boat ramp. Such good views and not a bad walk. you can walk to a private beach but I wouldn't swim there as crocodiles do love north Queensland. I would say, if your not a local swim in between the nets.

You can also sky dive onto south mission beach. There is also a chocolate place that has opened up but it's towards bingil bay, closer to the bruce highway.

The people there are very relaxed and friendly. It is a pet friendly place so dogs can be unleashed on the beach.

You will have many sightings of cassowarys so take a camera. You will also see kangaroos and a range a bird's for the bird lovers out there.

I spent over two months staying at Mission Beach. The locals are friendly, sociable and warm. I have to say coming from Northern Europe that I was a bit freaked out by the thought of insects and snakes. However I soon overcame that phobia when none ventured into my rented apartment! The beach is beautiful although you cannot swim during the high season because of jellyfish. There are Stinger Nets which are suppose to keep Boxer jellyfish out and some people chose to swim inside those nets.
I made plenty of friends here and had a really good time. The restaurants serve really good food and there's always a band playing somewhere or something going on. Mission Bus Link is the main transport around here. All you have to do is call John or Shane and they'll come and pick you up. An excellent service.
