Mission Beach is a still an untrammelled paradise - where developers have not really yet managed to despoil. There's kilometres of palm fringed beach to walk along with marvellous views of Dunk Island and further south, the crags of Hinchinbrook Island (both worth a visit if you're staying here). Grab a boat and dive the reef or explore the rainforest clad hinterland that lies lushly behind Tully. It's a place where you can still camp on the beach (at beautiful Bingil Bay) and wake up to the waves lapping in the morning. The restaurant scene at North Mission is pretty lively with lots of food choices for a night out and if you want a luxury hotel right on the beach you can't go past Castaways. Missioln Beach is alkso strongly on the backpacker path of not to be missed beaches that string from Thailand, through Indonesia to Cairns, MIssion and Maggie Island in Townsville before ending up in the Whitsundays.
