We stayed for three nights, the beach is absolutely beautiful, the sea lovely for a swim, we saw a stingray near the waters edge, short walk to the town for lunch etc, you could go sky diving locally and land on the beach, we were walking along and all these parachutes appeared in the sky. Short ferry ride across to Dunk Island, was almost deserted the day we went, just fabulous.

Mission Beach is a still an untrammelled paradise - where developers have not really yet managed to despoil. There's kilometres of palm fringed beach to walk along with marvellous views of Dunk Island and further south, the crags of Hinchinbrook Island (both worth a visit if you're staying here). Grab a boat and dive the reef or explore the rainforest clad hinterland that lies lushly behind Tully. It's a place where you can still camp on the beach (at beautiful Bingil Bay) and wake up to the waves lapping in the morning. The restaurant scene at North Mission is pretty lively with lots of food choices for a night out and if you want a luxury hotel right on the beach you can't go past Castaways. Missioln Beach is alkso strongly on the backpacker path of not to be missed beaches that string from Thailand, through Indonesia to Cairns, MIssion and Maggie Island in Townsville before ending up in the Whitsundays. What more can I say - Mission is still magic - make it part of your's

My partner and I stayed last minute at Mission beach. We spent a lot of time on the beach, fossicking around all the interesting driftwood and shells. Walking up from wongaling beach toward town there is an amazing little spit where we had a fire and watched schools of shimmering silver mullet jump under the moonlight as the tide came in, while the river background reminded us us what else was in water, as pink eyes glinted in the torch light.

A nice, peaceful and uncrowded beach, great for a stroll and a quick swim to start and end your day.
