While I nominated solo I travelled with my gorgeous son who lives with autism. Without the 110% support of John from Mission Link Bus Service my stay would have been a very negative one! I can’t thank John enough for his compassion and consideration when dealing with the young person who has no social filters! A lovely stay at ‘castaways’ resort allowed some relaxation time!

My first trip to Mission Beach was in 1979 and I instantly fell in love with it. So much so, I returned the next year to get married there. Endless tropical sandy beaches, the enchanting Dunk Island just off the coast, some of the best coral reef and atolls on the Great Barrier and the purely magical rainforests make Mission Beach a place you will never forget. Plenty of choice in styles of accommodation, Mission Beach has several individual beach suburbs, each beautiful in their own right but personally, I prefer North Mission Beach. The local Tavern there is outstanding and plenty of nearby eateries to cater to all tastes. Fishing, diving, snorkelling, parachuting, beachcombing or just plain relaxing is all part of the charm of this beautiful location!

ONLY A BEACH!?! You've got to be joking!
I've spent WEEKS here, doing all sorts of activities.
In MISSION BEACH you can find just about everything,
from sea and sky diving to horse-riding, or cycling in nature
to partying stupid at night.
If you find Mission Beach too slow,
that's because you have lost the ability to let go of your city-induced neuroses
MISSION BEACH IS HEAVEN ON EARTH

It really is only a beach however that beach is massive and stretches out forever. At the very end of the beach to the left (looking at the sea) is a rocky area which you can snorkel around and it’s very shallow and warm great for kids.

However there is really nothing else there. Shade is very minimal so it’s very hard to get any rest-bite from the heat. So bring some shade with you or a hat.

Half way along the beach you can walking into mission beach town with has a lovely corner covered in cafes and restaurants. They are all really lovely and one offers gluten free and vegan meals for those interested.

Worth a visit if you’re in the area as there is really only that to do other than a skydive. The National Park isn’t all that great so best to spend the day walking along the coastal path from the jetty go mission beach. More to see.

When we were there it was windy and there were quite some waves. The endless beach was very nice to do some jogging and watch the sunrise at 6 am. We loved it very much although the sea was too rough for swimming
