Mission Beach is beautiful and this resort is right smack bang on the beach. Amazing views and a very nice resort.
Breakfast was included daily, fresh fruit and coffee were great.
Staff were nice but nothing really stood out that I would say they were excellent.

Would definitely stay again on my next visit to Mission Beach.

Even though we stayed here during their off (stinger) season we found it absolutely perfect. We were still able to swim at the beach out front in the stinger net and enjoy the use of the 2 pools. The room we stayed in was perfect, Spacious with 2 queen beds, a balcony overlooking the pools and a view to the beach and Dunk Island. I also made use of the onsite Spa; having no less than 3 massages which were first rate. The dining at the Bibesia Restaurant was first class at reasonable prices. Of course, we did a day tour out to the Great Barrier Reef, which was an amazing experience. Don't forget to visit Paranella Park for a magical afternoon.
The staff were friendly and very accommodating of any requests we might have. Always a smile on everyone's face particularly Lily.
I can highly recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms on a higher floor probably have more privacy.

After obsessively reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, I did not want to come here. TripAdvisor members have always proven to be right, albeit often over petty things. My husband has been wanting to come here after following the Castaways Facebook page since devastating cyclone Yasi. I'm glad he stood his ground and booked 2 nights here, ignoring my "but people said all these bad things about it!"

We booked an ocean front family room. Walking in to our 2nd floor room we were met by a musky mouldy scent. Calling reception, we asked to be moved and they were very apologetic and promptly had us moved to the ground floor. Much better with direct access to the beach and right next to the restaurant and much more convenient for the kids to play outside!
The rooms are beautiful, amazing view and a good size. And the beds! Incredibly comfortable, that alone is worth it to stay here. The good thing was that you couldn't hear the noise of the restaurant from our room, despite being so close.

All the staff are attentive and friendly and were helpful in any way possible.

The restaurant food is nice, but I felt it was a very limited menu. Needed more simple common items and yes, it was quite overpriced when it's your only option. The afternoon staff made the best coffees!

We picked the worst 2 days to come. Constant, heavy rain, but the area needed it so we were glad. It was a pleasant relief after being in stifling hot weather for a week and didn't stop us from enjoying the beatiful bath-like sea water or the pool which was much smaller than the pics led us to believe, but still very nice.

The only negatives are the fluorescent lights in the carpark at night shining through to the bedroom all night, the blinds don't do much at all to prevent that brightness coming in in the second bedroom. And hearing the plants being watered for an hour with a high pressure spray at 6.15am when you're paying $300 a night was very disappointing, especially when you have kids that are average sleepers and need darkness and some level of quiet to have a good nights rest.

We do look forward to staying here again, as the location and positives outweigh the negatives, and seeing more of what the Cassowary Coast has to offer. Hopefully seeing some actual cassowaries!

Dear Sammazz,

Thank you for your review and feedback, trip advisor comments are unvetted and we have very little rights, Trip advisor assistance for properties is also very limited, If we had a chose we would not be part of it.

Having said that your constructive comments are very welcome and does give us a opportunity to take very seriously your feed back and review constructive feedback in a positive light. As such i have spoken with the garden team re your valid comment about the watering and this will not occur in future, as had i looked at the comments on the blinds and menus.

Please let me know when you are returning, i like to help you see a Cassowary

Kind regards

My partner and I stayed here over the valentines weekend and our anniversary, we had a beach front room and the view was amazing, it is pricey but the room decent size for a couple, The reception staff were all lovely very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant staff were also very nice, food in the restaurant was top quality, the only thing is that there isn't a kitchenette or cooking facilities which means you have to eat out all the time but at least food was really good. Cocktails were amazing staff friendly when delivering them. Not a lot to do in the small town (nothing we don't have in Port Douglas) except skydive mission beach which i highly recommend, but we wanted to get away somewhere quieter so we definitely enjoyed it. Dunk Island is beautiful, its a must do! good to see there is progress on the refurbishments, but was interesting to see the damage that was done from the cyclone. An enjoyable weekend in Mission Beach
Happy with our choice. We recommend this hotel over others that we considered.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms and top level are the best for privacy. Bottom level has pool access from balcony. Each to their own
