“Very nice place for an evening walk.”

Meningie Lions Jubilee Park

Next to the main street and Lake Albert Motel is the Lions Jubilee Park. It is very clean and has several attractions and great views over the lake.

We were on the last leg of a journey from Melbourne to Adelaide via the GOR and this was probably the most difficult with miles and miles of not a lot. It is welcome to come across a town of a reasonable size with oblivious parking shops and some space to have a walk around

This Patti has some great views and a very large carved pelican - very good and certainly an eye catcher

After driving through nothingness on Princess Highway from Robe to Adelaide under the 35 degrees heat, passing through miles and miles of flat desert like landscape with dry salt lake looking plains, it is such a relief to be able to stop at a decent size town 150km from Adelaide! The tall piece of carving, looks like 6 metres high single piece carving from a dead tree really helps put Meningie on the map! The artwork consists of two aborigines children attempting to feed a fish to the pelican perching high on top of the tree trunk. It was a stand out along the otherwise plain highway. A masterpiece indeed! The lovely picnic shady spot at the Lake Albert, well served by a row of shops, was much appreciated! Hope this helps!

We were travelling from Robe to Victor Harbor we entered the town and spotted a giant carved pelican. We pulled over and parked and enjoyed the break whilstaving lunch. There were many families doing the same. It is a peaceful place regardless of the number of people about. A good stop off point.

A great park. We visited on a hot day in the late afternoon, so we're blessed with shade of the huge gums. It would be baking at midday, so perhaps some other shade at the other end might be good. Great mix of little children and bigger kids activities and you simply could not do better on location! What a view :)
