Had a day in Sheringham today to visit family. Town was busy and all the pubs in the town were busy due to half term weekend and a festival on in town. Wanted lunch. Remembered the Burlington. Checked out their website and phoned them to book a table. Table booked for fifteen minutes time... Fantastic. What a hidden gem for food!!! Price for one course a bit pricey for Sunday Lunch but the two and three course option far better value. The owners have a massive building to keep up and I so hope they survive as the food was great. The history of this place is great. It was in fact built as an servants quarters to the now demolished (Years ago) Grand Hotel in Sheringham. Faded Grandeur springs to mind from a time gone by

As we had booked on line for a three night break later in the year, we thought it would be a good idea to " case the joint " before we went. We were pleasantly surprised at the tasteful and bright decor, a contrast to the rather dour exterior. All the rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff bright and welcoming. The menu was traditional and we chose fish and chips and gammon steak and these were cooked to perfection. Although the size of the main courses were more than adequate we had to sample the marmalade bread and butter pudding with home made custard which was lovely. We are looking forward to our three night break, I bet the breakfasts are great too.

We both had Steak Pie. The meal was well presented and pie and vegetables ideally cooked broccoli and cabbage al dente unusual for such a restaurant I our view. After two bites the whole meal was cold! The vegetable dish might have been removed from a fridge and the bowl with the steak pie, served piping hot, chilled in seconds. Whilst we ate the meal the experience was ruined as it was all cold. We didn't stay at the hotel just called in for lunch.

We have walked past the hotel before but never considered going in, until I saw other reviews. We were in Sheringham on a very hot Saturday in Carnival week, so were looking for somewhere to eat where you didn't need a machete to get through the crowds and decided to try the Burlington.
We had a window table with a beautiful sea view in a quiet restaurant with lots of space and friendly helpful staff. The food was plentiful and tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it and intend it to be our eaterie of choice whenever we are in Sheringham again. It was VERY reasonably priced, and I was amazed that I was charged less that £3 for a single glass of wine - most places charge close to a fiver.
Good idea to book for week-ends - we couldn't get in the first night we wanted.

We went to Sunday lunch with family at this hotel , and If you go and get one of the tables facing the sea , you would be hard pushed to beat the view anywhere !!!! The food was good and for the price great value, the staff were very friendly and were very attentive .
