Myself and seven other work colleagues went here for lunch. We had read the reviews on Trip Advisor and got exactly what we expected, a good old fashioned country pub with traditional home cooked food. Most mains were £7 and a wide range of deserts for £3. The mains are limited and Steak or Gammon are only served in the evening, however there is something for everyone, they even had a vegetarian option.

Would highly recommend this establishment to any locals or visitors

Booked this pub for a lunch with mother in law as a celebratory lunch for Mother’s Day, wanted to go somewhere fairly local as she is almost 91 & has mobility issues & other trip advisor reviews were fairly good.
As we entered I was shocked by the state of the dirty looking carpets & furniture, however we thought as long as the food is good it will be ok .
Menu is very limited but there was four other choices on specials board , three pies & a flan.
We all chose the steak & mushroom pie with new potatoes & vegetables. Very reasonably priced at £7 but certainly not worth any more, very bland & lacking seasoning & flavour.
Most definitely would not return here.

Don't expect anything fancy, but if you like decent home cooked food this is the pub for you. The pub itself is in a 1960s/70s time warp, but that's part of its immense charm. The bar staff are friendly and the chef/cook is a bit of a dragon (she;ll tell you to get out of the way if necessary), but she does a great Sunday roast and lovely pies. We've been back time and time again and will do so again. Far better than many neighbouring pubs which charge three times the price! Sunday roast for 2, plus a dessert and a drink each comes to less than £30. It's an absolute steal.

My wife and I went for Sunday lunch after looking online for somewhere different to the normal chain pubs. And did we find one!! This lovely two hundred year old Freehouse was real find. Frequented by locals, many with dogs( all very well behaved) we had a lovely welcome and a were seated at a table by a window with a radiator to keep us warm. We had the Sunday Roast which was Beef with all the trimmings. It was beautifully cooked, tender, and a good portion as well. Crispy roast potatoes and four veg and gravy to die for!!

Babs, the landlady and all her staff were great fun, chatty and friendly. Hope they carry on for years and years.

We will without a doubt visit again soon, that roast beef is calling me!!!

We love the place. Friendly staff. Food excellent and good value. Lovely in the summer when you can sit outside with coffee. Cosy in winter with lovely log burner. Relaxed atmosphere. Different to the run of the mill over commercialised pub. A complete delight. . Cant recommend enough .
