Came here for my aunts birthday, the hotel is in a good location with on site parking, the reception is clean and staff very helpful, the room we had 116 was lovely , clean, tidy and toiletries in bathroom as well as tea and coffee in room too, the shower is a very good size and we even had bath sheets to dry on, dinner was nice but would be better if asked how you’d like steak burger cooked as I’m not a fan of anything with a hint of pink but this is only my view, the meals are of great value , breakfast maybe better when covid rules end as we were not asked if we wanted cereals , yoghurt, pastries etc the vegetarian sausage is not a sausage it’s more like bubble and squeak , in saying that my hubby had normal fried breakfast and said it was great, you cannot fault the staff in The Orwell they are friendly and helpful , this was our first visit and we will definitely be returning , brilliant stay .

Stayed again with family, and couldn’t fault the warm welcome & excellent value for money.

This is my go to hotel in the area & has so much charm & character. Not generic like Premier Inn, Hilton, Marriott etc.

Had dinner in the restaurant, again amazing value for money, and both food and service were excellent.

If you are thinking off booking, and you want a charming seaside experience that’s good value then do it !

Just visited Orwell Hotel restaurant. As usual it is a bright and safe area with Christmas decorations. Food and service excellent with everyone adhering to the present restrictions. I cannot recommend enough this location if you want an excellent meal and feel safe.

Met up with friends (6 of us) for a meal on a Friday evening. Wasn’t expecting much as we had heard it was a bit run down and we remember it in the 70’s when it was very popular for dinner dances. However we were all pleasantly surprised. Waiting staff were excellent, particularly the Irish waiter, very efficient. The venue is looking a bit tired but Covid rules were well adhered to. Menu is a bit basic but the Mussels were excellent and the crayfish and prawn salad was lovely. Sirloin steak, beautifully cooked and tender , fish and chips delicious. Will certainly be going again, maybe after lockdown ☹️

Starting with the negatives, which are few
1. The decor in some of the rooms is very dated and in need of a refurb especially the 70's tiled bathroom! Also the lampshades were stained, not sure with what and the general state of the interior of the room didnt match with the communal areas of the hotel which was disappointing
2. IT WAS TOO HOT ALL NIGHT!! to the point where we couldnt sleep!! The pipes were boiling the whole time we were there and made the room stuffy and uncomfortable
They were our only 2 negatives.
The food was lovely, and they serve really nice coffee!
The decor in the reception and surrounding areas was amazing and I spent a lot of time photographing it.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Great area, close to station, shops and beach and pier.
