This is a fantastic 'old world' traditional pub. It has a open log fire, a beer garden, great food, friendly staff and the best pint of Adnans to be found anywhere. What could be better.

Our favourite for a pint of Broadside. With a real fire (don't sit too close!) Food was popular here too and the place always seems to be busy so you may have to be lucky to get a table but don't be shy- ask to share a table as this is a good way to get talking.

Another great pub in southwold serving Adnams but I think this place has the best character, it has a mix of all ages plus dogs it's a lovely cosy place to spend an evening and surprisingly lively on a Friday night. With an impressive beer collection to keep even the most fussy connoisseur busy all evening, I would highly recommend for a decent pint of Adnams. The food smelt good and seemed to be very popular but this place gets 5 for the beer and atmosphere alone! Must visit if you like a pint in the evening and lively all year round!

This is not The Nelson of old. The building is the same, as is the ambience and the quality and range of drinks. The staff were not very welcoming on our recent visit and everything seemed clinical. We had a toddler in our party and were told in no uncertain terms the areas where we could sit and our requests for additional items were frowned upon. This has always been an old haunt of ours as we lived in the area for over twenty five years and you wish that you could turn back times.

Wide(st) range of Adnams beers, and above-average food served in a friendly and efficient manner. We had fish pie this time (? Nellie ?? Nessie) -- very reassuring and satisfying. Earlier visits enjoyed a very good hamburger, with excellent 'fries', and on one occasion, superb pig cheeks with ?pancetta and mash. This pub has all the atmosphere you could want from a town thus situated. And a view of the sea is a 45-second walk away ...
