On entering the place the person seating people just stood at the bar and had no intention of welcoming me. A very poor welcome.
I eventually sat at a table. Menus are laminated, two separate pages, no drink or wine list. I was asked what I would like and asked for the choice of red wine. I was told "Merlot, that's it". This is when I should have left!
I ordered the fried brie and roast beef, asking for the beef as rare as possible.
The brie was to be served with crusty bread. It arrived with 4 quarters of buttered brown bread. The salad with it was poor.
When the roast beef arrived it was unbelievably overcooked and flooded in nondescript gravy. Veg overcooked, roast potatoes not cooked enough. Yorkshire not cooked enough.
This place caters for an old customer who is not concerned with quality of service or food. The atmosphere and decoration is depressing and like an old people's institution.
Think carefully before coming here. I'd never go again under any circumstances.
