Description: An award-winning 2 AA rosette restaurant with a gorgeous setting bordering the Ashdown Forest. Wonderful views across manicured lawns and lake, unobtrusive music by a resident pianist on the Grand piano, combined with a very professional service create a traditional country hotel atmosphere in which you find yourself easing into a refined state of relaxation. Executive Chef Andrew Wilson and his brigade hit the spot time and time again with thoughtful and imaginative cooking with a modern, yet traditional twist.

Good range of choices for the set £42, 3 course menu and catered for coeliac, vegan and diary free. However it was a very busy night and we waited quite some time. Diners were provided with additional amuse-bouche and sorbet courses to tide us over.

We had a family Sunday lunch here. The service was attentive and polite without being over bearing. The food was well cooked and tasty, with a range of choices. This is good old fashioned dining with domed plate covers, table-side serving, a view of the countryside and the grand piano to add to the atmosphere. The décor is tired and food presentation is not modern, but this is worth over-looking to sample the solid, flavoursome cooking.

Not real fine dining. Felt like they were taking advantage of hotel-goers. Most outrageously overpriced (and awful) cocktails I've ever experienced. Skip.

This was a Christmas get together with close friends and important that the meal was good. The service, both in the bar and in the restaurant was excellent although we always had to ask for another drink rather than asked if we wanted one. The beef was superb as was the fish but the vegetables were mediocre - one even burnt black it was so over cooked. However, my biggest gripe was their inability to cook a Yorkshire pudding. What was served was a cross between a mini frisbee and a crisp - it tasted and was, burnt. For the price, they need to do better with the trimmings.

You could look at the menu blindfolded and stick a pin in to choose your meal and you wouldn't be disappointed. Everything is delicious and tasty. Very good value and a great atmosphere
