Description: Welcome to our award winning, family run, village inn. We're on a mission to offer the very best pub food in the Forest of Dean and on our menus you'll find a wide choice of quality home-cooked meals - ranging from steaks to curries and seafood. On Sundays, we also run a popular carvery from noon until 3pm. All our meat comes from butchers within 4 miles of Parkend and we support many other producers in the Forest of Dean. At the bar you'll even find local real ales on tap, as well as a wide selection of other beers and wines. We have disabled access and we welcome families, mountain bikers and walkers.

Had a lovely carvery on Easter Sunday with our dog in the bar area. Received a warm welcome and enjoyed a fantastic lunch. We felt the food was very good and we really enjoyed the atmosphere

What a great place, booked the last table available and glad we did. The pub was packed with people hovering to pounce on empty tables. Food was tasty I had Lamb curry which was hot and sweet and described in the menu. My wife had sirloin steak that was cooked to perfection and really tender. The service was also excellent, a perfect evening.

Superb vfm Sunday carvery. Three different meats to choose from and a mountain of veg...... all for £10. Pleasant surroundings and a cosy bar - will definitely return for a cheap and cheerful lunch. Would recommend if in the area.

As previously regular visitors to the area we had skipped the last four years and decided to revisit some of our old haunts this time. We dined a couple of times as the Fountain and that is really the point. It is the sort of place you come back to.

Since our last visit the devour has been completely updated and the menu is far more like you would expect in a modern Pub. Nothing overly complicated but well prepared good platefuls of food. Simple, honest and tasty.

On both occasions we arrived before 7pm and all of the restaurant room was full. We ate in the bar area and that was close to full. This was mid week in March, there was snow on the ground and Whitemead Forest park was near desserted. Yes, I known the other Pub in the village was shut, but still it was far busier than I expected. I would advise booking early if you arrive in the summer.
