We stopped for Sunday lunch on our way back North from Ledbury and really glad we did.

Wonderful starter - cured trout, soup then roast beef. It was delicious and the service perfect. Vegetables served on the side with cauliflower puree as well.

Massive Yorkshire pud, gravy on plate with carrot puree. Perfect slices of beef beautifully cooked.

Minor criticisms: would have liked extra gravy to pour on Yorkshire but used cauliflower puree instead. Cutlery really flimsy - very strange.

Delightful place, lots of small rooms

We stayed overnight here just before Christmas and the whole stay was 5 star. The lodge was great and the food in the restaurant was some of the best food we have eaten in a long time. Combined with excellent service and great wine list, I really couldn't think of a better place to spend some quality time relaxing.

Booked here (well in advance) for our Christmas Day lunch. Got chatting with a family on the way in who said we were in for a treat, and we certainly were. I was a bit under the weather so didn’t do it justice but hubby reported it as the best Christmas lunch ever. Lovely staff from booking to serving us on the day. I wish we lived closer!

we phoned up on 3 occassions to make sure we could have a lovely celebration meal as 2 of travelling fron Chesire and all 3 like differnt diets
Cold draughty table door had to be left open barman said on bitter cold day
waitress service terriable guest had said on telephone she wanted steak was told steak is now to expencive to buy in so she had to have duck which was only thing that was cooked well told waitress could she have roemary sauce in side jug as she didnt know if she would like it yes she pretented to write it down it came poured all over duck guest scrapped it off as best she could vegan stew turned out to be cattering spring veg soup out container that you had water to then reduced this hadnt been reduced enough it was watery with lots black pepper mine to celebrate my 70th birthday was suspose to be leeks in cheese sauce i got fine strips leeks boiled in water in big bowl when i put fork in it leeks all came up in big ball dripping with water in bowl of warmed single cream i sent it back chef offered to cook me some leeks in butter no thank you this is suspose to be my 70th birthay celebration meal with 2 guests chef couldnt be bothered to come to table or management or owners to appolisise for such bad service i sat at table with nothing as my guests had travelled so far i couldnt walk out i paid over £50 for this terriable celebrational meal i was intending taking 8 of my clients for meal there but 1 was in hospital at time so had arranged to go in new year when he had recovered also i had intended giving 2 gift vouchers for christmas present so saved my self lot money instead i told them all about my birthday meal and cost of it i took my guests to London had a lunch in Harrods expencive but great told them all about terriable meal at riverside celebration meal

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and warm friendly professional staff delivering a memorable long and lazy lunch. Made our New Year’s Eve a good one, we will be back in 2023.
