A great place for a treat. Staff could not be more helpful. Rooms well appointed and hotel very well run. Food in restaurant is good although not gourmet. Recommended. Parking is not owned by hotel so make sure your parking ticket is promptly validated as wardens are vigilant!

Stayed: February 2018

We stayed here on a two night deal from Shepherd Neame brewery. We have a lovely large room including a seating area for 2 on the second floor. There are nice rooms facing the sea but these are quite a bit more expensive.
This is a hotel not a pub so there is a large, single bar facing the sea. There were 3 real ales on hand pump plus the usual lagers, spirits etc.
The breakfasts were substantial, fresh, and hot - no lunch needed during our day out! The pub is well situated about 10 minutes walk from the station and right in the middle of Deal seafront.
We had dinner for one night in the main restaurant though you can also eat in the bar. The menu had a reasonable range of food, I had the steak which was cooked perfectly and we had a lovely bottle of red to go with it.
The staff were very friendly and chatty and the manager even took our case up to our room while I was paying for parking - it is pay and display, a maximum of £6.50 between 9 and 5.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Second floor, you get some views and are away from any traffic

We had a winter deal from Shepherd Neame and decided on Deal. As keen walkers we were looking forward to a comfortable hotel and some brilliant walking. We weren't disappointed. The hotel was wonderful. We had an amazing room overlooking the sea where we watched the sunrise each day. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. The food was fine - not amazing but absolutely fine. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and in town the second night. Clean, we furnished rooms. Thank you for a relaxing break away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view

My husband and I have stayed here quite a few times and a different room each time. The Clarence was our latest stay, warm and cosy family room. The shower wasn’t brilliant but didn’t spoil the stay! I will say though the floor boards are very squeaky and did wake me in the morning but it is an old building and to be expected. All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. It was great to see on the Breakfast menu alternatives to just a full English, and very tasty. Deal is a lovely part of Kent, unspoilt with some great quirky shops and lovely walks along the front.

Stayed for a two night break in January. Our room was on the first floor at the rear of the hotel and overlooked the sea. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and well decorated. The usual tea and coffee supplies were in the bedroom together with complimentary bottled water (still and sparkling) and a coffee machine which took pods (a selection of which had been left for our use). We only ate breakfast in the hotel and it was well presented. Staff were very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Best rooms are three which are on the first floor at the rear of the building (overlooking the sea) and have balconies.
