We visited the take away on Good Friday around 5.30. Dirty tables and chairs scattered around the outside, overflowing bins, Inside the take away the waiting area was filthy you could easily have kicked the litter around, the first thing to strike me was one of the serving staff had waist length loose dreadlocks flowing around and dipping in peoples food, no hairnets being worn, dirty ill fitting uniforms held together with safety pins, dirty serving counters,
Despite this the staff were polite and the food tasted good, just pleased I was too hungry to go elsewhere
Papas pull your socks up and represent Cleethorpes in a better light than this, you have a good location and business concept don't let a shabby appearance let you down

Easter Sunday- the restaurant was very busy and we were requested by the greeter to leave our name and enter the tearoom, as there was a 25 minute wait for tables. This was 'ok', they can't control the quantity of customers!! 30 minutes later we asked if our table was nearly ready and they updated us that it would be ready in 5 minutes. Another 20 minutes later, we asked again, and with an apology we would be seated in 5 minutes time. We were seated in a professional manner and due to the extended waiting time, he supported to try to resolve the situation, requesting if we were ready to order straight away. (very good). The restaurant was dirty and before been seated a piece of the previous dinners lunch was removed from the seat and given to the waiter. As the restaurant was so busy, we thought it would guarantee that the fish and chips would be hot and to the high standard we have received before on previous visits, however the fish was dry and the thinnest piece of fish, crumbling away with the batter and tough on the outer edges. The chips were just warm and one of the servings of peas had a large matter of dried peas, which had been stuck to the bottom of the pan. We reported the situation to the waitress whilst she collected the plates, who became flustered dropping the dirty cutlery and soiling my husbands top. She apologised! At the pay desk, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal and we viewed our experience. They did try to offer a free fish and chips voucher for us to use another time, however an 80mile round trip is along way to return with the gamble of disappointment, with so many competitors guaranteeing a higher quality product.

This was our second visit, and it did not disappoint. It was very busy but the staff where helpful, and got is through as soon as they could.

The decor inside is lovely. Like a cruise ship ball room. And the fish and chips were excellent. We will be back

Shared a take away medium haddock & chips with the missus today. The portions are big & it was one of the best chippy meals I’ve ever had. The place is spotless & its location on the pier is fantastic. I’d recommend Papa’s to anyone.

We were pleased we had pre-booked as the restaurant was very busy. We were a party of 4 and were shown to our table promptly. Our waitress Lauren was quickly on hand to bring the menus and take our drinks order. Whilst waiting for our food we could admire the style of the beautifully restored and refurbished pier, the venue for this special fish and chip restaurant. How often can you eat your fish and chips beneath spectacular chandeliers? We did have to wait 25 mins for our food but we were there at peak time with over a hundred other diners. The food was freshly cooked and good quality, with very good portion sizes. Homemade chips, mushy peas accompanied the fish. There were alternatives to fish too. We could not manage a dessert. We had a glass of wine each to wash it down. We were looked after by the efficient and bubbly Lauren throughout, she was super. Total bill £50 for 4 was well worth it.q
