Had a good look around at all the artifacts on display. The curator was lovely and very informative. I was expecting a cold castle but it was reasonably warm which was nice. The cafe was nice with a good selection of food and the gift shop was worth a visit

A wonderful day trip out for the whole family. The castle and it’s history is amazing and the views and beaches are stunning. I could not recommend this place enough.

The glory of Bamburgh is its position on a cliff top above a magnificent sandy beach. The view from a boat out at sea is particularly spectacular. It is quite a steep climb up to the entrance but there are several rooms open, filled with various items of interest including objets d'art and furniture. The hall is particularly impressive. Inevitably, one exits through the gift shop.

Having heard about Bamburgh Castle and been to Farne island, this was a pleasant day out. Worth paying and reading about its history, scenic view and Armstrong museum.

Bamburgh has repeatedly been used in movies as a not-ruined, massive castle in a remote windswept location. It’s well worth a visit and is an easy detour if you’re heading up to Scotland.

The principal rooms are Victorian rebuilding, so this gives a combination of a country house and a castle in one stop. The “State Rooms” have several fine collections of China and — unlike many places — every picture is labeled and there are displays all around explaining the significance of each individual.

Kids will be bored and it would be a nightmare for anyone who could not easily negotiate several steep stairs.

Thank you for the feedback, really pleased to hear you enjoyed it and liked the interpretation.

It's a shame you feel kids wouldn't enjoy the visit - we have thousands of children visit every year and have an activity room, outdoor games, activity packs and rubbing packs.

You are correct, there are lots of steps but the first half and all grounds (except battlements) are accessible and we also have a dvd showing the remaining rooms for anyone unable to undertake the second half of the tour. We do advise anyone with limited mobility to contact us for advise in advance or look at our access statement online.

Cheers Chris
