Owner description: The King of Castles, a fortification has dominated this site since Anglo-Saxon times when it was the capital of the kingdom of Northumbria. The current structure with Keep, curtain walls, towers and ramparts dates from the 1500's to the Victorian restructuring of Lord Armstrong. There are fourteen rooms open to the public including the spectacular Kings Hall, with over 3000 items of artwork, furniture, china and porcelain. The separate Armstrong and Aviation Artifacts museum gives visitors a glimpse into the creativity and industrial genius of Lord Armstrong, with a look at the aviation legacy created by his company after his death. The cafeteria serves great, fresh food and then a wander around the battlements completes a great day out.

Had a great morning visiting this wonderful castle. £26 for a family ticket for two adults and up to three children.
Limited activities for the children with the exception of the games room. The castle has plenty of ornaments, art and furniture to satisfy all. Well recommended.

Thank Ian M

Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it.

We do also have outdoors games (in good weather) and both rubbing packs and activity packs available.

Cheers Chris

Had a good look around at all the artifacts on display. The curator was lovely and very informative. I was expecting a cold castle but it was reasonably warm which was nice. The cafe was nice with a good selection of food and the gift shop was worth a visit

A wonderful day trip out for the whole family. The castle and it’s history is amazing and the views and beaches are stunning. I could not recommend this place enough.

The glory of Bamburgh is its position on a cliff top above a magnificent sandy beach. The view from a boat out at sea is particularly spectacular. It is quite a steep climb up to the entrance but there are several rooms open, filled with various items of interest including objets d'art and furniture. The hall is particularly impressive. Inevitably, one exits through the gift shop.

Having heard about Bamburgh Castle and been to Farne island, this was a pleasant day out. Worth paying and reading about its history, scenic view and Armstrong museum.
