Stopped on way to Newcastle ferry for a bite to eat. Had prawn and roast beef sandwiches which were massive and more than enough. In fact one between two would have been enough!

This cafe is very good for breakfasts and coffe - they serve a good range of breakfast items and the coffee and scones/cakes are good. It also serves snacks throughout the day and a range of more substantial lunch dishes. It is a clean welcoming cafe with friendly staff and ideal if you are travelling on the main road through Wooler (north of Wooler as you head to Coldstream). It has parking facilities and I have been there on various occasions and always found the food good.

Traveling to Hay Farm Heavy horses stopped in for lunch . We had our 15 month old grandson with us . Lots of choice on menu but when we looked at the children's menu it was limited for small children so we asked the lady if they had any chicken nuggets , she said no but the chef would batter a chicken breast and cook it for us , that's what I call good service. I had the home cooked quiche and misses had cheese savoury sandwich . Ours were both very nice and the little ones chicken arrived cooked in a lovely crispy batter with chips . He enjoyed both thank you . Would come again.

It was my first visit will friends who have dined here before and it was an excellent place to come for food. I only had a sausage roll but it had 3 huge sausages, my friends all had the full breakfast and it looked so good and we'll cooked. Staff were lovely and and whole diner and toilets were spotless.

Reading the other reviews we wonder if we visited the same cafe but it was. It was a Thursday lunchtime with cars parked outside which could have been a sign of popularity.

We went in and studied the menu. We saw corned beef hash and thought, that's the dish for us on a cold March day. However, what we received was a fry-up of jacket potatoes, onions, carrots, turnip, peas and another sweet white vegetable (?) topped with baked beans and a fried egg. No obvious evidence of corned beef. When questioned a member of staff said that this was how they made it and that the corned beef disappears on cooking! When we make it at home it does not.

Certainly, the cheese scones looked good so perhaps this is a cafe which has overextended itself.

We were given a refund for the hash. It had been offered when we first questioned it but was kept by the counter until my wife took her dish back.

We were somewhat underwhelmed.
