“Great little spot - we're going back!”

My wife and I and our two-year-old had a lovely stay at Archways. It's right in the village which has several local amenities, in particular The Ship pub just up the road is good all-round and has a good kids area in the garden. The local butchers shop sells tasty produce and a short walk gets you to the recreation ground which is fun for adults and kids alike.

The house is comfortably and smartly fitted out in a homely modern style but without feeling like a rental. The main bedroom is large and airy while the two smaller bedrooms are fine for kids or single adults. The bathroom is neat and the shower nice and powerful!

Further afield it's not far to Minehead which is a thriving tourist town with a great steam train station, we also visited Lynton/Lynmouth which might be lacking in sandy beaches but has a classic funicular railway, and Watersmeet which is National Trust but free to visit and very pretty.

There's lots more we'd like to do in North Devon so we're going to go back!

“Lovely little property just off the high street in Porlock”

My wife, young son and I spent a long weekend staying at the Archways in Porlock. It was easy enough to find the house, the instructions had a few steps but were easy to follow.

The house provided everything we needed with ample space for the 3 of us. We managed to squeeze our travel cot into one of the smaller bedrooms (it would have easily fitted in the master bedroom). The master bedroom had all the space, storage and comfort we could ask for.

Throughout the house, all the decor was very tidy and the furniture in good condition, all the bits and pieces we needed were to be found somewhere in the house. There was everything I needed in the kitchen to cook a Sunday morning fry up and some decent evening meals.

The location is fab, you're seconds away from a pub and the shops on the high street are only a moment or twos walk away. We tried the fish and chip take away at Piggy in the Middle. We had to wait for them to be cooked for us, but they were fantastic an easy option on a Saturday night!

There's lots of walks to do in the area and the owners were kind enough to leave a selection of maps and books on suggested routes. We made it out to the weir and some of the surrounding country side plus visited the National Trust Holnicote estate.

If we decide to go back to Exmoor again we would happily stay there again.
