We visited this hotel today.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. The ambience was one of happiness. Having had a couple of drinks each, in the bar. (I was seated in a chair beside the inglenook fireplace) We moved to the dining room for our meal.
Having been greeted and served drinks by a pleasant young man. We proceeded to the carvery. The owner Tony, served us the meat. A choice of four meats including lamb. Then a lady I assumed to be family, served us with the vegetables.
The meal was fantastic, all cooked to a very high standard. The sweets were just as good.
The bill for six of us, was a pleasant surprise. This hotel represents real value for money.I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

This has been a favourite restaurant in the past so when some friends were visiting we thought we'd give it another try. We booked a table and were told we'd be in the conservatory as there was a wedding in the hotel. This sounded ok to us. Surely if they couldn't cope with a table for 4 they would have said then.

What wasn't mentioned was that the guests for the wedding were all meeting in the conservatory so our table was surrounded by people standing and shouting and what should have been a quiet meal in a hotel restaurant turned into a meal where we couldn't hear our conversation with each other while being hit by bags and coats from the assembling wedding party.

Eventually we were moved to another area for our meal. But really we'd rather have been told when booking that they couldn't accommodate us.

The meal was average pub grub. The staff inattentive.

May i firstly apologise for your dissapointment . Our wedding party that day had their ceromony in our restaurant and the wedding breakfast in the function room . They had not hired the conservatory . Our head waitress moved you because she had seen that guests had spilled into the conservatory from the bar . I do hope that you may return and urge you to flag up when booking so as we may make your next visit an especially enjoyable experience . Your comments have been duly noted .

I've stayed at the Inglenook a few times now due to work this way, and enjoy my stay time after time.
Being on my own is never a problem as the staff are always so helpful and friendly.
I love the rooms with their own character as opposed to the now so modern look in most hotels, and coming to breakfast everyday is another warming experience, being greeted by the scent of the wood fires.
Breakfast chef is lovely and welcoming and always cooks up the perfect breakfast.
I have also used the hotel for business meetings and again have been well looked after.
Highly recommended if your looking for a hotel with some character and home comforts
