A good varied menu which was perfect for Sunday lunch. Our starters and main course were all terrific.
However, my apple & cinnemon crumble was disappointing. A crumble is one of the great British classics and should be served in a bowl with custard. Not in a ramekin. Not on a wooden serving board dusted with icing sugar. And not with a kumquat on top! The apple had the consistency of baby food and the topping resembled demarera sugar. It was a poor end to a great meal. And at £5.50 it was very poor value.
The bar staff were friendly and helpful. The table waiting staff were very young and awkward - no real customer service skills on show. We had to go and collect our own cutlery for our main course.
I'd go back, but won't be ordering dessert until such times as the chef stops monkeying around with the presentation and improves the recipe.
