Beautiful hotel and garden.
Breakfast was average, nothing special compering to other hotels that i have stayed in with same price range.
Both ladies who work there are lovely with lovely customer service!
BUT the male worker, not sure about his name, had a really bad attitude towards the end of my staying.
He came on the next day while myself and my friend were having breakfast. He had a very bad attitude, high tone of voice when he was speaking to us.
He was clearly upset that we used the premises to take some photos. He didn't have to speak the way he did and use some very inappropriate words, while explaining his frustration. We both are very dissapointed how this man handled the situation.

Dear Daydream,
The gentleman that you refer to is the co-owner. He spoke to you a number of times about taking photos in public areas in different positions without appropriate clothes on, and that these photos were clearly going to be for some commercial purpose. You had not asked us about taking these sorts of photos/videos and you would not have been given permission to do so.
This caused all our staff and some other guests discomfort and this is why you were asked to stop.

This was a return visit in hopes of seeing snow, and we were so very blessed to have this experience. The host was so attentive without being intrusive, the room was cozy and sweet, the location is great, and the house is delightful at every corner. Breakfast was generous and delicious. As a bonus, we had the most perfect snowfalls, and the house is the perfect backdrops for photos. Every detail is well thought out, and we even had Xmas music playing for our breakfast with further snow outside. Thank you again for a delightful experience!

This is a lovely old house. There are 2 common areas where guests can relax. Our room was spacious. Staff were lovely and the inuded breakfast was a good start of day. Hot water sometimes not warm enough. Electric blanket a treat.

You need to be appreciative of the history and atmosphere otherwise if your expecting 5 star modern you may be disappointed.( we loved it ). Rooms, warm, small, enclosed , but clean. Shower a bit dysfunctional but modern and clean.
The owner made us so welcome and set the stage for a visit into history. Other guests were respectful of noise on the creaking floors and we had a wonderful winter stay. The breakfast was very generous and again the personal touch and service was outstanding without being too intrusive (perfect balance ).
Short walk 7 min to main town/restaurants.
Post Covid we want to take the whole (mature) family to experience and sit in the library around the fire place.

What a great experience in a lovely hotel, first built in the late 1880s as a hotel. It's furnished in (we think) about 1930s style with nice rooms (plus ensuites) and very welcoming hosts. The Library is wonderful - lots of books, a gas log fire and comfy chairs. Whilst the restaurant is closed due to the virus, two local pubs offer OK food a short walk down the road.

The rooms are not 5 star modern - they are a different experience - quaint perhaps but very relaxing and comfortable.

A very nice breakfast is included in the rate and a nice touch is complimentary chocolates and port in the library in the evening.

We would stay again and recommend it for a break away from '5 star modern'.

The hotel layout and dining room spacing took care of social distancing.

Room tip: Ask for a room away from the main road.
