Tried this two nights in a row.....the first night the waitress wouldn't let us split our bill "because it would confuse the kitchen". Regardless the seafood platter was good with a delicious local fish....wouldn't have included the smoked salmon as local just because it's farmed. Second night delicious steaks with a peppercorn sauce. Pretty building with friendly staff.

We were staying at the lodge and dining at the restaurant was easy and convenient. The food was good, the fish and oysters fresh and tasty, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the service excellent. They had a full bar and a good wine list. We would dine here again.

We stopped here for a morning coffee/tea break during a Tasman Peninsula tour. What a pleasant surprise when we opened the baskets to find warm, moist apple spice muffins. Really - there were the best muffins I've every had. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The view was enchanting. Too bad it's such a long way away.

Lovely setting, fine dining, able to taste wines before choosing. Could showcase the local wines more.

Upon arrival at Stewart's Bay Lodge this afternoon we booked a table at Gabriel's by the Bay as we were advised it is very popular and busy. Well it wasn't busy but it looked like they were preparing for some large groups. We chose the sourdough with olive oil and balsamic and beef fillet and pork cutlet as main courses. The bread was literally two slices of sour dour loaf and a dipping saucer of oil and vinegar. I was expecting some warm crusty loaves. The steak was well cooked not Cape Grimm or similar standard. The pork cutlet was luke warm and dressed with a quite cold apple chutney. The pork was also quite tough and dry. The potatoes were warm - they should have been fresh and hot. We waited 15 minutes for our plates to be cleared and gave up and left without dessert or coffee. At no stage did anyone ask if everything was okay with our meal. Hotel Bruny was much better and cheaper. Looks like we will buy some food and cook our own meal tomorrow night.
