It has been a few years (and several stays) since I last reviewed Bear Run Inn. While we normally stay in the Aspen Cabin, this time we decided to spend a few days in the bed & breakfast for a change of pace.

I'm so glad we did! The inn is tastefully decorated, and our room (the Victoriana Rose) was so lovely and romantic. There is a 4-poster queen bed, a chair, beautiful lighting, and a gorgeous wardrobe with full-size mirror. Though this room does not have a shower in-room, there is a huge garden tub, and bath robes are provided for after soaking.

Breakfast each morning was simply outstanding. Souffle, fruit cup, pastry, and hot tea or coffee with juice. There is no way you can walk away hungry from this meal. We were fortunate to be able to try freshly-made apple cider with breakfast one morning - it was delicious! We also enjoyed listening to Bud's stories. You can learn so much from and about someone if you are only willing to listen.

The Myers family encourages you to visit their farm while you're staying with them, and we like doing so very much. They have many barn cats, goats, and horses, and they were getting alpacas on the day we left. We took a buggy ride on our last stay in June, 2013 (yes, this was our second stay this year!), and this time we went on a hayride. It was so much fun, and we got lots of beautiful photos. There is also a pond and hiking trail on their many acres. The stargazing from their property is wonderful, and opportunities to see wildlife are abundant. The peace and quiet you will find here is incomparable - you'll find rest for body and spirit.

The Myers continue to provide warm hospitality and consistently clean amenities to such a high standard that I can't imagine us ever wanting to stay anywhere else in the Hocking Hills region. I truly believe once you stay here, you won't want to stay anywhere else, either.

We are most grateful for such kind remarks coming from our guests. Our way of life, which happens to include our family lodging business, would not be the same without the opportunity to meet, share, and interact with guests from all parts of the world. We welcome your return soon. Thank you for your most kind and generous review.

We stayed at Sugar Maple- a perfect get-away cabin for a couple. Simple, tasteful, but completely appointed cabin, which was more than what was advertised. It was immaculate, and every tiny detail had been thought about. Secluded, with everything you could want, including a hot tub plus an indoor jetted tub, fireplace, new HD tv, gas grill, etc. etc. we loved sitting on the front porch at the end of the day for our "happy hour". Our purpose for the visit was to hike in Hocking Hills State Park, and although there are cabins much closer, we still considered this convenient, and would stay here again because it was so well done. We even got a call on our day of arrival letting us know that the office would be closed for about 15 minutes, in case that would cause us an inconvenience. Super place at a very reasonable price. KUDOS to the owners.

Room Tip: Plenty of seclusion here, and although there is a king bed and sleeper sofa, it is still all "one large room"... best for just a couple.

We stayed at Red Oak Cabin. It meet all our expectations. Loved the cabin with it's own private pond and shelter house. There were 8 of us, but we rented a sleeps 12 for the pond. My husband was able to go out and fished while the rest of us slept in. I was worried about our 13 and 14 year old girls being bore while we was not out doing the fun stuff in the area, but they really enjoyed it and the time we spent playing board games and hanging out. We plan to come back again when some other family members can come during spring.

We stayed in the Goldilocks Cottage for 3 nights. Although it was closer to the main road than what I had thought, it was very quiet and we didn't see or hear anyone else during our entire stay. When we first arrived, Bud greeted us and told us about a hayride that he was giving that evening which was a nice treat. The cabin was very clean and had everything that we needed. There was satellite tv, free wifi and a telephone with free local and LD calls. The wifi connection worked best in the bedroom furthest away from the kitchen. The telephone came in handy as the cell service is very spotty. The owners really thought of everything...towels for the hot tub, filter for the coffemaker, logs for the fire pit, etc. There was even a picnic table by the grills (there was a charcoal and a gas grill) and chairs for the fire pit. We ended up grilling out and roasting marshmallows by the fire every night. The hot tub was also a nice treat after hiking each day. The location was great to visit all of the caves in Hocking Hills. Overall, we had a very relaxing getaway...our kids want us to make this a yearly retreat.

We are happy to hear that your first stay with us was an enjoyable and relaxing one. Yes, Bear Run Road is typically a very quiet road with minimal traffic, which is one of the reasons we love living here ourselves. Enjoy the Fall season and we look forward to you and the kids returning for a yearly retreat! Thank you so much for your kind review!

We stayed in the Goldilocks Cottage for 2 nights with our extended family. The layout was perfect because the young ones got to have the back room all to themselves and they really liked that. Everything we needed was stocked in the cabin and the outdoor area was great too. We enjoyed the hot tub after a long day of hiking and shopping. One downside was the wifi connection was very poor, but taking a break from technology isn't such a bad idea. We also enjoyed fishing at the small pond up the street, even though it was raining and we caught nothing, but still had fun!

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us in our Goldilocks Cottage and that the layout worked out well for your extended family. We apologize for the slower WiFi connection. Unfortunately as with most rural areas, the advantages of our secluded location comes with the lower bandwidth speed availability. (It seems like not that long ago that we were using Dixie cups with a long string here in Hocking County) We agree that taking a break from technology is a good idea. Thank you so much for your kind review and please come back to visit us soon. We will try and have more sunshine available for fishing next time!
