Wild Hare may not look like much...but looks can be deceiving. The owner takes great pride in cooking/smoking his brisket, ribs other delicious meats. The sides are also made fresh. Can't say enough good things about the brisket.
Expect paper plates and plasticware.

Will return the next time we're in town.

Brisket and Ribs were perfect. Wet enough without having to add sauce, but did anyway. Black Beans and rice always my choice, with cheesy potatoes. Just bring it Kevin!!!

I’m a Southern girl, and I love barbecue. Wild Hare is the closest thing to authentic pit smoked pig I’ve found in Ohio.

The pulled pork is absolutely divine. I’ve had it plain, on a bun, with and without coleslaw; it’s invariably stellar. The chicken is equally good. I’m not a fan of beef brisket so I’ve not tried that. I’m happy with pig. The ribs are a bit of heaven—falling off the bone—and make life a lot better.

The test of good ‘cue is whether or not it requires sauce to be delicious. Wild Hare’s meat needs nothing. Sauces are available, though they’re typically the cloyingly sweet Midwestern stuff. I suggest you pass on the sauces and just enjoy the lovely smoked flavor of the meat.

They’ve recently added smoked chicken and smoked salmon salads to the menu. Both are OMG spectacular! Not the typically dreary iceberg lettuce compositions, but excellent (and huge) delicious pyramids of dark and light greens with crunchy vegetables. One salad is enough for two people. Salads don’t come with crackers or bread, but unless you’re a snob, the salads will stand on their own. They’re big, filling, and oh, so tasty. Excellent for a dine in or take out lunch.

Side dishes are limited, and there’s no banana pudding for dessert (nor is there any dessert). My one quibble is the lack of banana pudding, but given Wild Hare’s attention to the quality of their meat, and salad ingredients, it truly doesn’t matter. This place is a treasure!
