Took about 3 hours on self guided tour. About 7 buildings were open with knowledgeable costumed interpreters. Unique historical site. Hopefully efforts to restore additional buildings will continue.

The history of Zoar is a great story and the buildings still in place are sufficient to turn this tiny town into a great attraction. They do well as it is, but make no mistake... this town could tell the story of communal living, religion in America and the value to hard work in a way few places could. Wooden pipes? And how they taught children! This place is a story-tellers delight... but the folks there lack the knowledge and enthusiasm and the town lacks the funding to get to the next step. .

A fascinating visit and an excellent tour. We have visited similar historical villages like the Shakers, Amana Colonies, etc. but Zoar was different and interesting. Not to be missed if you enjoy historical buildings and history. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable answered all questions. There is a restaurant in the village and a historical Canal Tavern a short drive away. The village is only about 3 miles off of I-77. Highly recommended.

Living so close to zoar we finally had a chance to tour some of the restored buildings and the garden. Fascinating to say the least. Definitely a must stop for history buffs and antique lovers. There is stairs involved so wheelchair accessible is not available in most of the buildings.

We were able to tour a number of the historic buildings in Zoar Village, including the former hotel. Very educational building tours with guides who explained everything very well. We will visit again in the summer and hope to tour more of the buildings that we missed. They have such an interesting history, and to learn about the Separatists who came over from Germany and established this village is fascinating.
