Went into the bar to have a drink and ordered a martini. As I watch the bartender make this concoction, I watched as there was a shot of vodka a shot of gin and no vermouth. What kind of concoction was this? The Baker city special? Please invest in a decent bartender especially when the prices of the cocktails are expensive.

Looking for a good dinner in Baker City, this beautiful old Victorian Hotel looked promising. We both had a delicious corn chowder, then flavorful mesquite roasted prime rib. Homemade pumpkin pie for dessert. Service was attentive, friendly, and outstanding.

We enjoyed a Cocktail class in the lounge area and afterwards, dinner. Our interest in Baker City included it's history so after dinner we looked around the public spaces at the old pictures. We were stopped by the front desk and, in a clipped tone, told "It's for guests only. Just the gift shop is open to the public." I guess eating there does not constitute being a guest! It certainly left a bad taste.

We are so glad you enjoyed the Cocktail Class and dinner. You are quite right, the interior is restricted to guests only. The privacy of our guests is paramount, they have an expectation of privacy that we respect. While we are not able to accommodate non-room guests who want to explore the interior of the Geiser Grand unescorted, we do offer guided tours, with prior reservation. We that someday you will return as an overnight guest or join one of our fun guided tours!

This will set you back some $ but it is worth it. The setting is cool and old timey with the chandeliers and stained glass.

We had the prime rib and steak and it tasted great. The service was attentive and responsive. My only suggestion is to change the music that cycles through every 10 minutes or so. Very cool tunes but not after the 10th time.

We are so glad you enjoyed your dinner. The restaurant kitchen serves locally sourced, from scratch food, and the management and servers are committed to providing the best dining and hotel experience and our menu pricing is actually very competitive. A multi-million dollar investment into a new wing is currently under construction, which will add another elevator and more amenities. We will be sure to include your music suggestion with our planned upgrades!
